Another gust. My nostrils flared. There were no recognizable scents with the wind. Not my wolves or vamp. Could it be Damien? “Damien, come out. I’m not in the mood for your games, and we seriously need to talk.”
I looked around, my feet moving in circles. Then I froze, a gasp stuck in my throat, when out of nowhere a snowman appeared in front of me.
Thesnowman. The exquisite, almost alive details of the one outside the cabin were exactly the same. How did it move here?
My heart raced as my gaze narrowed at the figure, staring into the pitch black buttons that were supposed to be his eyes. “What are you?”
Swallowing, I reached out a hand. Before my finger touched the snow face, it cracked. With a gasp, I stepped back, watching the snowman crumble down, revealing another figure.
A crouching creature with shimmering, long, silvery white hair and…fucking snow white wings.
Whaaaaaaat?
The deepest, strangest, most beautiful eyes lifted to me. I’d never seen anything like them before. One of them was turquoise and the other…pink. They held me immobile, taking my breath away.
The creature rose to his feet, formidable wings spread. I took another step back.Hehad a human body. Naked human body with all theheparts exposed. “Hello, Belle.”
Eyes wide, I dragged my gaze up to his face, to the gorgeous lips that had just moved with my name, his melodic voice putting me in a trance. This creature was the most beautiful thing I’d ever seen.
My lips parted, but no words came out for a while. He tucked his wings behind his back and stepped toward me, his incredible hair sparkling like a thousand stars as he moved, swinging down his broad shoulders. I stumbled back a step, raising a hand between us.
He stopped. “You should not be afraid of me.”
I wasn’t. Despite the way he made his appearance, and how strange and formidable he looked, there was something about him that was comforting and peaceful rather than intimidating. “Did Damien send you?”
His perfectly sculpted jaws tightened. “I am not a messenger from Hell.”
“Oh. So…you’re not from down there… You’re…” I pointed up.
“Yes, Belle. I am an angel. Archangel Zavariel.”
Chapter 7
Belle
My lashes fluttered as I took more steps back to set our gazes level. He was really tall, towering over me like a giant. “Archangel?”
He nodded. “It is an honor to finally meet you in person, Belle, or do you prefer Rena?”
Finally?“Belle is fine,” I said warily. Why would an archangel come to me? In a snowman disguise, watching us all day when Damien was gone? “What do you want from me?”
He smiled, pearly teeth flashing at me. How much sparkle could one angel need? “To simply deliver a message.”
“O-kay. Is it from the big guy himself?”
He chuckled. “You assumed correctly.”
“Oh.” I blinked in surprise. “Since when does he send his messengers hidden naked in snowmen?” My naughty eyes dipped to his impressive junk.
His hands—oh my look at the size of those—flew to cover his crotch, failing to hide the whole package. He cleared his throat. “He does not. That is entirely my fault. I have not roamed Earth in a while and forgot…” He cleared his throat again as I couldn’t hide my snicker. “I thought the snowman would be a less intimidating gesture than just manifesting out of nowhere. Please accept my apology.”
I didn’t know archangels could be this cute. “I’m not complaining. Love the way you broke the ice.”
My humor didn’t touch him. “It appears earthly manners are not the only things I have forgotten.”
There was something I didn’t like in his tone now. “What’s that supposed to mean?”
“You are a wanton, promiscuous, unrestrained being. I should have taken that into consideration.”
