“The Twilight River.”
Chapter 36
Belle
The Twilight River turned out to be an actual river and had nothing to do with Edward or Jacob. There were no hot beasts here whatsoever. There was nothing but a river, a house on stilts above the cloud range and two grumpy boy angels with heavy armors that were looking at me like I were a disease.
“You brought the queen of Hell to the Twilight River, Archangel?” one of the uptight asses exclaimed. “These are sacred grounds. The path to the seven Heavens from Earth starts here. The gates of the First Heaven are at the end of this river, and we are the guards that prevent intruders and evil souls from coming in.”
“First, I am no longer an archangel, and in the matter of minutes, I shall be a fallen angel. Second, the queen of Hell is my and your salvation at the moment, in fact all of Heaven’s, so I suggest you treat her with the respect she deserves and help her with her noble and divine mission.”
Way to go, Zava.I gave them a shit-eating grin as I put my hands together and rested one arm on his shoulder, slouching beside him. He folded an arm around me and pulled me into his side.
“What mission is that, Zavariel?” the other uptight ass asked. “Fornicating in sin to procreate a forbidden celestial?”
“That’s way too fancy for saying taboo fuck,” I mocked.
Zavariel chuckled. At one of my sinful jokes? “You finally understood my humor? Oh my. The world is really coming to an end.”
His chuckle turned into a snort. “Am I good enough to be your mate now?”
My eyes lusted over his body, and I made sure those sparkling asses noticed. “We shall see.”
“It seems you do not need to cut off your other wing to fall, Zavariel. There is nowhere lower you could descend,” said first ass.
Note to self: angels that are not fallen are all arrogant fucks.
Zava was about to say something, but I patted his back. “I got this one, baby.” Let the queen of Hell with the power of corruption put her magic to a good use.”
I took a step forward, abandoning Zava’s touch for now so my demon would be at her peak. She got into the boy angels’ heads with no effort whatsoever. Wow.Impressive, Demon. I should give you a name all to yourself. How about…Braralon? Anoruk? No? Wait! I know. Venath. Yeah? Yes! I knew you were gonna love it! Now back to business, Venath. I wanna see these two groveling in sin.
A few throbs and breaths later, the snobby, judgmental angels were kissing, taking each other’s armor off. I giggled hard. “It must get lonely out here, boys. You two are just…ooof. Love me some sparkling boy on boy action.”
“Holy Heavens. Uh…Belle…please,” Zava stammered.
“What? They shouldn’t have judged and kept their arrogant mouths shut. Now, I’m gonna make them my bitches.”
“Uh…well, as much as I love you, can we keep your dark corruption powers at bay for now? I am not accustomed to their severity yet, and—”
“You love me?” That was the only part I heard. It was strong enough of a distraction that Venath and I lost focus and slipped out of the angels’ heads.
He let the back of his hands slide down my arms, and he smiled, wreaking havoc upon me with his featherlike touch and blinding smile. “I am desperately, irretrievably and irredeemably in love with you, Isabella Ferro.”
I made him prove it with a kiss as I took off his clothes. I could no longer wait.
“What has just happened? What did you make us do?” One of the angel boys dared disrupt us.
I rolled a glare at him. “Nothing that didn’t come across your mind before and chose not to do because it’s forbidden. Now, if you don’t want me to bring the bromance you want so much out of you again or tell on you, I suggest you start your hiding thingy and make us invisible from Damien.”
They stared at me incredulously and then at Zava.
“You heard her,” my angel—that sounded so taboo and hot and delicious—said.
They mumbled in what must have been Angelic, which was another language I must learn, but nodded helplessly.
I held Zava’s hand and looked at his wing. “Do you need help with that?”
“Can you cut it off for me?”
