He met my gaze, his charming smile on his face. “Of course. Anything you wish, my queen.”

“Then I wish to give them a proper goodbye after the coronation.”

He breathed loudly, so heatedly I almost thought he’d exhale fire. “Darling, can I have your full attention in this majestic ritual for now? I apologize if I’m being greedy at the moment, but this is our special time. As I deliver you to the throne of our eternal kingdom, I don’t want to think about the other…beasts that share your bed. Can you honor me with your full attention and be here with me, only me, for now?”

I nodded with a small smile, feeling a tiny bit of guilt. “Sure. I’m sorry.”

“Don’t apologize, darling. You’re a queen. Queens don’t say sorry, not even to their kings.”

Damien had a way of taking everything bad I felt and throwing it away as if it never existed. Why did that bring the memory of Za…of the angel that was sent to kill me…of how when I was in his arms, he silenced the demon and the darkness, how his kiss yanked me out of my own nature?

They were both angels, hence the relation, despite the obvious difference. Damien was a fallen dark angel. Archangel Asshole was a light angel. Damien touched babies to turn them into Darkborns. Asshole made sparkling Lightborn babies with his celestial cock.

Why would Zavariel, his questionable morals, the dilemmas they projected, and his fucking cock cross my mind? Now? Ever? And why did the very mention of him even for a flicker infuriate me so much? Why did I feel betrayed when I’d learned about his secret plan?

I shouldn’t have expected anything good to come from an angel sent from Heaven. I shouldn’t have been surprised to know they had only sent him to do their bidding. I shouldn’t have been surprised he would have no problem doing whatever it took to obey them.

I dipped my eyes to Damien and that little stab of guilt hit me again for giving any space of my mind for that asshole after I promised Damien of my full attention. I shook it off, reminding myself of what I was and what I was about to become.

Glancing over my shoulder, I saw the black and red throne of thorns and skulls approaching. It was so beautiful and breathtaking. So royal and formidable, and it was mine.

The lining of some demons in fiery armors caught my attention. They must have been the Elite Demon Knights, guarding the throne, waiting to witness the final coronation mating.

I held tight to Damien, fueling my darkness with his, reveling in my need for him and his for me.

“We’re very close, Isabella. The moment both of us have been waiting for,” he said.

“I can feel it, my king. Devil, it feels so good.”

“I like it when you say it like that, when you call me Devil, when your ecstasy and awe is associated with my name.”

I bent for a kiss. “I love you, Devil.”

He bit my lip, sending a jolt of arousal through my whole body. “When I make you come at the foot of the throne, that’s exactly what I want you to scream.”

My head tipped back as I giggled. “Yes, Devil.”

He spanked me, biting my lips again. “That’s my girl.”

With my head still lulled back, I stared at the black sky. I’d never seen Hell’s sky before. It wasn’t much different from the one on Earth at night. It even had its own sparkling stars. “Like a Morning Star but at night.”

“What did you say, darling?”

“I was making a joke about your…ourstars.”

“What stars? There’s no difference between night and day here, and that stupid name they’d invented for me is a ridiculous fable.”

“Okay.” I pointed at the little shiny dots up. “Then what’s sparkling up there?

Damien stopped, and his head jerked up. Then his whole body seethed. “Unholy fuck!”

He put me down quickly and yelled things in Demonic, I presumed. I should learn that language very soo—

I blinked, thinking my eyes were tricking me, but fuck me if those sparkling dots didn’t have wings. And they were descending down on us.

A huge bulk landed a few feet in front of us with a thud, and the crowd broke into a panicked commotion. It wasn’t hard to guess whom that bowing sparkling hair belonged to.

“Zavariel,” I gasped as he rose, pulling a sword out of his back.
