“Please,” Slasher beseeched me.

“Okay.” I licked a drop first and managed to swallow it. It wasn’t as bad as I thought it might have been. A little bitter and more metallic than my blood, which I assumed was the same taste of any other human. Then I sucked a whole pint of vampire blood.

“Thank you.” Slasher led the boys out. It wasn’t long until the bikes revved through the gates.

Carter carried me up and made me some hot chocolate. We snuggled in bed, holding our steamy cups, watching the snow. He was warm. And so beautiful.

He kissed my forehead. “I love you, too, you know?”

A little smile tugged at my lips before it stretched into a full grin. “Now that’s the tinge talking.”

“Maybe. I think it has something to do with these titties, too.”

I giggled, and he set his cup aside, pushed Malcolm’s medallion off my chest and savored my boobs instead.

Moaning, I played with his hair while he motorboated me. “God. You’re making me so wet, Mister Carter.”

“Professor Legend, you have the sexiest tits I’d ever seen. When you’re standing up there in class, all I think about is coming over and playing with them in front of everyone.”

“Oh my. This is so hot.” My hand snaked to his cock “Fuck. You’re so hard.”

His phone vibrated in his jeans. He huffed off me and checked the text. His expression went from annoyed to disturbed.

A surge of worry jolted in me. “What is it?”

“The vampire, he’s not alone. He’s got his own gang and…”

“And what?” I asked, out of patience.

He stared at me for a second. “Dasher is hurt.”

“Oh my God.” I clasped my hands behind my head. “Go help them, Carter.”

“I can’t leave you. I’ll send some prospects.”

“A sixteen year old and a bunch of guys who couldn’t stop a woman on a pink bike from breaking out? No. You go. Please. It’s my brother.”

He shook his head. “What about you?”

“Nothing is gonna happen to me here. And I have a mini sire bond in my system. If anything happens, Slasher will know.”

He seemed unconvinced, shaking his head slowly.

“Please,” I urged, almost sobbing.

“Damn it.” He squeezed my hand and darted out of bed.

For the next hour, I sat by the terrace, praying. My stomach and back hurt so much. A dull, nauseating pressure grew down my belly. I sighed in pain, clutching it. “Please don’t come out now. Wait for your uncle and your daddies.”

Down there, I heard a couple of prospects leave on their motorcycles. “They need more men? This can’t be good.” I stared at my phone, waiting helplessly for any news. No one was telling me shit. Even when I went straight into Slasher’s head—this thing was incredibly easy and utterly spooky—he didn’t respond. I could still feel him, though. He was alive.

I should have drunken Malcolm’s blood, not Slasher’s.

I sucked in a deep breath and exhaled it, shaking. I had to take my mind off things or I’d just die of anxiety. I grabbed my laptop and continued to read an article about hypnosis for trigger removal I’d started earlier, and tried to bury everything else in my mind for now.

The pain was getting worse by the hour. I pushed the laptop and stretched my legs, sliding in bed, closing my eyes.

I jerked awake to the sound of another breath in the room. Disoriented, I sat up and looked at the empty room. How long had I been out? I patted the sheets, searching for my phone. When I found it, there were no messages still, and it was a few minutes before midnight. I stood slowly, stretching my aching body, worry taking over me. Something was wrong if they hadn’t been back already. The curtains moved. I jumped to see a silhouette of a man behind it. I cradled my hands over my stomach protectively, fear like ice running through my veins.
