I put on my clothes and left her bed, heading for the door, but in reality, I was still naked, recovering.

“Where are you going?” she asked.

My brows hooked. “Back to my room, if you allow it.”

“Don’t you need some aftercare?”

I blinked—hard. “You don’t have to…”

“I know I don’t. But it’s the way it should be.”

“Miss Legend, you don’t have to pretend you care. We only met today. You used me as I like to be used. You’ve been very generous, allowing me to come for you. That’s more than enough.”

“Are you saying you don’t want to rest your head on my chest, have my arms wrapped around you as you fall asleep?”

I closed my eyes and swallowed. This woman was more vicious, more evil and dark than I thought. In my world, no one gave a shit. There were only needs to be met. Use. Abuse. Where was that coming from? What kind of game were you playing, Miss Legend?

Her blue eyes captured me with their softness. Her arms opened wide. A tender smile lit her face. Her hair a little damp. Her nipples hard through her gown. She looked beautiful and sexy. But I wasn’t thinking about fucking her now. I was thinking about taking her up on her offer.

Something was wrong. None of this was true. It just couldn’t be.

But I wanted it to be so much.

My mind screamed with red sirens. Danger alerts.Extremedanger alerts. But I walked past them and slithered back into her bed. Into her arms.

She drew me closer and gave me a kiss. “You’re so warm. I like the feeling of you cuddled up to me like this.”

“Not more than I do,” I confessed, no clue what was happening to me.

She smiled again. “You’re not so crude when we’re touching. I like you better like that.”

“I’ll do my best to be the way you want me when we’re not, too.”

“You’re so sweet. Good night, Inferno.”

Her breath gained the rhythm of sleep before I spoke. I kissed her forehead and brushed her hair off her face. “Good night, Miss Legend.”

How could she ruin me like that? Make me want things I’d long forgotten? Feelings no one would give a demon. Not even his own family. Emotions she would deny me once she knew what I was.

But the damage had already been done.

With such a simple move, she owned me.

I left her mind in peace, havoc wreaked in mine. I jumped into my jeans and searched the nightstand for weed. Then I heard the breath of the one creature I loathed the most. “What the fuck are you doing here?”

“Is that a proper way to speak to your father?”

I hated his voice. His smell. His very existence infuriated me. “The shitty kind of father you are, yes.” I turned to face him. The fucking devil in a suit. “To what do I not owe the fucking honor?”

He helped himself to a seat on my bed. “I have a proposition for you.”

“No, thanks.”

He smirked, and I clenched my fist, ready to punch him if he didn’t get the fuck out. “What if I tell you that I can give you Vixen Legend forever if you do this tiny little thing?”

I squinted at him. “Did you…Were you snooping on us?”

“Of course, I was. It’s my job to be there when a sin is committed.”
