Or a simpleit’s nice to come home to one, but imagine having four?

“Professor?”

I gritted my teeth. “I’m not going home now.”

He stepped in front of me and waved his phone. “Yes, you are. Dasher’s orders.”

My glare hurt my eyes. “You already texted him?”

He shrugged. “You really thought I’d cover for you?”

“A loyal pup that hates my guts, of course not. I just didn’t think you’d do it this fast. Is any word you said about the lab true?”

He took another step forward, his eyes and jaws hard. “Every word. I might not have been working here at this hour, but I didn’t break in to find you. I have a key, and I do help around here daily.”

It was the first time I noticed his features. Dark brown hair. His eyes a shade of blue I’d never seen before. Perfectly tanned skin even though we lived in Oregon. Mouth pouty in a very cute way. Thick eyebrows…a unibrow was more like it and a big nose to take down the intensity of his beauty, but he was actually…handsome.

It irritated me even more. A prick like him…or Russell…or any of the douches hovering around my brother shouldn’t possess pretty faces. “Did Malcolm send you all the way back from yourerrandso you could find me? And how did you know I’d be here at campus in this building?”

“A hunch,” he spat. “Get going, Professor. Your brother doesn’t like waiting.”

I snatched his phone from his grip. He flinched and winced at me as if he was bitten by a snake. He seemed to be perturbed by my touch more than agitated by my move.

“Give that back,” he grumbled.

I tapped Malcolm’s number and put the phone on my ear. “Relax. I’m not going through your porn clips or coded texts with the gang.”

“I don’t have—”

I lifted a hand between us, hushing him as my brother’s voice replaced the ringing. “For your sake, don’t tell me you lost her.”

I rolled my eyes. “I’d lose him if I wanted to. Stop sending your hounds after me, Dasher. I’m not a kid.”

“Yeah. Sneaking out on your little, pink bike proves it,” he taunted.

I rolled my eyes again. “How did you find my little stunt, Dasher?”

“Pathetic.”

“I think it was awesome. That’s what you get when you putmeunder house arrest. You knew I’d respond. Don’t come crying now.”

He sighed. “Come home, Reindeer.”

Just like that he sedated me. “I will, but I need a drink first. It’s been a long day. Could you tell your charming man to leave me alone now? I’ll be home in a couple of hours tops.”

He blew out a breath. “Fine, but take him with you.”

And just like that he infuriated me again. “What? No way!”

“Why don’t you come party with us, kitten?” Slasher’s husky voice came in. “We don’t serve pink or purple drinks chicks dig but we’ve got cold beer and a nice bar full of top shelf liquor if you’re interested.”

Malcolm swore heavily. I chuckled, tempted. Umm…a chance to get drunk for free and piss him off simultaneously? Yes, please. Besides, I’d never been to an MC party before. Rumor had it, they had orgies till the crack of dawn. Even if I wasn’t going to participate, I could use the inspiration for my one woman show in the privacy of my bedroom—Malcolm’s—later.

I bit my lip on a laugh. “Thank you for the invitation, Mister Slasher. I’m on my way.”

“If you think for one second that you—”

I hung up on my brother and handed Terror his phone back. “Let’s go.”
