“I’ve been watching how each of you respond to pressure,” he says as his fingers glide over my hard nipples. I gasp, and he smiles but then takes a step back. Killian leans slightly forward, listening intently.

“The surgeon is struggling between listening and being irritated that this prick is touching you,”Jethro whispers, and I giggle.

“Variables under stress,” he mumbles under his breath, causing Master D to nod once.

“Exactly.”

“Then this isn’t punishment?” Lucifer asks with a smile spreading across his face.Does he ever not fucking smile. It’sfucking weird that he has no other emotion besides just always smiling.

“I can fix that, just give me a blade and I’ll make it fucking permanent,”Jethro growls, making me giggle again.

Master D’s lip twitches as he walks around the room.

“No, it’s an opportunity,” he states, and I laugh.

“I love opportunities,” I say, and Jethro hums.

“Careful.”

“I’m not careful,” I whisper back as Master D snaps his fingers and the guards grab us, hauling us out of the room.

“You all will be taken to a more contained and comfortable room for the remainder of this test,” he tells us as we’re shoved down the hallway into another room. I try to look back at the others but there’s too many guards in my god damn way.

“Vinny is plotting. I fucking love that guy. The others—fucking idiots. Except maybe the surgeon. He’s alright. Lucifer’s gotta go, and I’m still on the fence about Jagger. I’ll keep you updated though.”Jethro chuckles.

“You are very vocal today. It’s driving me crazy,” I whisper as his cold hand licks up my spine, making me shiver.

“You’re already crazy. I just heighten it. Stop complaining,”he tells me, and I roll my eyes.

Stepping inside, I notice metal beds, a bathroom, and a TV. The room is ten times the size of our regular ones so this has me jumping up and down in joy. I spin and look at Master D.

“Thank you, Master. This is perfect.” I giggle, and he nods.

“I’m glad you like it, my dear,” he says, smiling down at me. Then a couple of people dressed in all white enter the room with a metal moving cart. These aren’t guards or orderlies. They must be his personal assistants.

As the cart moves in front of me, I see needles filled with a fluorescent red liquid inside.

“Don’t,” Jagger snaps then lunges, which only sends four guards to restrain him, but not before taking out their electric prods and zapping him until he’s on his knees with drool seeping from his lips. Vinny moves but Master D holds up his hand, stopping his movements. Killian doesn’t do anything, just continues to watch while Lucifer looks—excited.

“He’s an idiot. They all are except for Shadow Boy,”Jethro states, making me giggle.“I like the way he thinks. He knows I’m listening, which makes it so much fun,”he adds as I twirl around the room touching the metal bed frames.

“Lolli, dear. Please come back over here,” Master D orders, and I skip over to him. “Stand in front of Charlotte please,” he says, and I tilt my head.

“You’re going to put something in me?” I ask, licking my lips. His eyes snap over to mine and a wicked grin traces his lips.

“Yes.” He smiles. “I want to see what comes out,” he says, and my breath catches. Not from fear but from anticipation. I fear nothing. When Master D is happy, then I’m happy, which makes this place easier to deal with.

“If that’s what you need to tell yourself,”Jethro adds, and I roll my eyes. The assistant lifts the needle and presses a cold swab against my arm, wiping it clean.

“Hold still, sweetie,” she states as her blonde bangs cover her blue eyes. I giggle as she presses the needle into my arm. The sting is cold and sharp but I don’t wince. Instead, I giggle as the drug warms my veins and rushes down my spine like something crawling under my skin. It hits fast—so fast that my vision fractures and the room warps—stretching while the lights bend, dimming the harder it hits. My heartbeat gets louder and so does everything around me. Jethro laughs but it’s all wrong.

“What did you do?” I whisper, but his voice isn’t beside me anymore, it's everywhere.

“They opened the door.”He chuckles, and my smile splits wide—too wide.

“Oh.” I giggle, and the assistants make their way around the room, injecting the others whether they want it or not. I can feel them changing as the room pulses. Something is building while something else is breaking loose. Master D steps back, watching. My fingers twitch and my body hums but my mind—isn’t mine anymore or maybe it finally is. “…Jethro,” I whisper.

“I like this.”He laughs, and I giggle again.“Do you feel that?”he asks, and my fingers twitch.
