I saw her eyes dart to my arms before they went to my chest.
“Nadia…”
“What? I’m sorry. Stop flexing your muscles. You’re distracting me.”
“You’re trying to divert the topic.”
“Are you seriously thinking the Beta and I had something? Quit on that. I’m not stupid enough to cheat on you with someone close to you. Plus…” She looked at her manicured nails before smiling at me. “I have everything I need in my Alpha, so I’m not looking elsewhere.”
I remained in my position, arms crossed against my chest. I trusted both my Beta and my mate, but sometimes I couldn’t help it.
“Would you like to ask what we were discussing?” She asked sweetly.
I nodded my head.
“Let’s go to your office.”
“Why not here?” I frowned. “If you can discuss things with him here, then you can…”
“Ssshhh…” She cut me off immediately. “That’s the reason why we’re here. I don’t want us locked up in a room while discussing things because you and your jealous mind might think we were doing something. But you… and me. We can be locked up in a room. So, to your office now, Alpha.” Her fingers trailed my abs and arm as she passed by me.
I let out a breath before a smile tugged into my mouth as I followed after her.
A dominant Nadia was alluring. But a pregnant, dominant Nadia was something more.
I closed the door as I entered my office, while my eyes followed her to the couch.
I went to the window and leaned my side against the wall. “What were you discussing?”
She crossed her legs and placed her hands over her knees before she swallowed and started speaking. “First, whatever objections you have, you need to keep them for a while. Because you need to hear me out. I want you to be open-minded, and…”
“What is this all about? Will it hurt?”
“What are you scared of? What will hurt you the most, Riley?”
“You. Leaving me.”
She smiled warmly at me before she shook her head slowly. “I won’t be leaving you. So nothing to be scared of.”
“Speak…”
“When I was in Atlanta, I met someone…”
A low growl vibrated from my chest and I found it hard to breathe. Did she meet someone she liked?
“Do you like him?” I asked.
She shook her head. “It’s a female. And no, I’m not into females. And this is not about me.”
“You’re confusing me.”
“Can you let me talk? Hold the growls and the jealousy, please.”
I didn’t answer this time, my lips pursing into a thin line as I steadied my breathing.
“I saw your mother, Riley. I met Zahra.”
My head snapped to look at her as my eyes dilated. “This discussion is over. If you still have communication with her, I’m asking you to sever it. I don’t want anything to do with her, not me, not you.”
