I went to Jenny’s side and held her arm, nodding at her as I guided her toward the door. Sebastian was watching, but I knew he was in agreement with me. We needed to put Riley back on his feet and leave Jenny out of this.

“Fuck you, Dominic! Who’s the fucking Alpha here?”

I closed the door after Jenny left, and then I turned around to meet his raging eyes. “I don’t see an Alpha here. And instead of you channeling your anger to Jenny, why don’t you find a way to find Nadia before it’s too late?”

“I don’t even fucking know where to start!” He yelled before turning his gaze to Sebastian. “Send someone to the neutral city and a nearby city to check if they can scent Nadia there.”

“I will do that. But can we get to the bottom of this? The Luna told Jenny that you told her to fuck off and leave. Now we want to know why.”

“That’s none of your business.”

“It is. She’s our Luna. If you were right about asking her to leave, why would we waste time looking for her then? Maybe she’s better somewhere away from here!”

“What? Fuck you! I don’t care if she did something wrong or not! I want her back here! She’s fucking mine!”

“Yours? But you have the audacity to tell her off! What’s going on with you? Have you lost your mind? With all due respect, Alpha, that female is the best thing that ever happened to you, and you just told her to fuck off? For what reason? Did she refuse to fuck you?”

In seconds, the Alpha was already in front of me. His hand coiled around my collar as he threatened to throw a punch at me. “Didn’t I fucking warn you never to talk about her that way?”

“Then explain what happened!” I snapped back at him. I was losing my patience already.

“Can we calm down? This is not helping anything.” Sebastian’s voice cut the tension between us.

Only then did the Alpha loosen his hold on me and brush his hand over his hair in frustration before he walked to his desk. He crouched down and reached his hand into the waste bin.

Sebastian threw me a confused gaze, and I just shrugged my shoulders because I was baffled by the Alpha’s actions as well, but none of us said a word.

Alpha Riley picked up a crumpled piece of paper and tossed it at me before he slumped his body into his chair.

My eyes followed his every move, and I could see the tiredness and the pain crossing his features. But there was no one to blame for his misery but him.

I darted my eyes back to the paper in my hand and straightened it before reading everything written on it.

I kept shaking my head, and no matter how I kept reminding myself that the Alpha had a reason to be angry with his mate based on the letter, I had complete faith in Nadia. She was nothing like the female depicted in this letter.

I let out a deep sigh beforehanding Gamma Sebastian the letter as I walked and stopped in front of the Alpha’s desk, my hands slipping into my pockets.

“So I assumed that instead of believing the Luna, you believed whoever this fucker is, right? And you told her to leave because you think everything she showed you was just a lie?”

He didn’t answer while we stared off at each other.

“You let your insecurity eat you up again.” I leaned my palms on his desk, my eyes still fixed on his. “Did you let her explain?”

He shook his head.

“Fuck!” I blurted out as I threw a punch in the air, as my body made a 360-degree turn. “How could you? What made you think she planned all this? To entice you and then abandon you once she has obtained what she wanted from you?”

“She didn’t want the Luna ceremony! She didn’t want to bind herself to me!”

“Did you even ask her why she didn’t want to have the ceremony?”

“She’s not ready.”

“Then she’s not ready! You can’t just force it on someone who grew up not knowing what a Luna does! Her pack doesn’t have a Luna either! She probably just didn’t want to dive in on a position she knew nothing about.”

“You should have used the Alpha command on her that you were so willing to roll off on Jenny,” Sebastian added.

“I would never use it on her.”
