“I want answers when I ask questions.”

“Sounds fair.” I almost smiled, but I kept restraining myself.

“And…”

“And?” I asked, my brows furrowing, scared again of whatever she would say.

“And… I missed you.”

I hit the brakes hard without a warning as soon as the three words left her mouth and our bodies jolted forward. My arm automatically moved to stop her body, but it was already restrained by her seatbelt.

“What was that?” Her eyes rounded as she stared at me. Fear was evident in her eyes.

I rested my forearm on the steering wheel before tilting my head to look at her, not knowing how to explain to her that her words caught me off guard.

Fuck! This was going bad. I was losing control when it came to her.

“Are you okay?” I asked her.

“Yes. Are you okay?” She asked me back.

I nodded my head before my hand ejected her seat belt and my arm coiled around her waist. “Come here.”

She didn’t question me, instead she just let her body go where I was taking her as I sat her on my lap, straddling me.

“Riley, we’ll be late for your meeting.” She was biting her lower lip, her hands on my shoulders, keeping a distance between our bodies.

“I know.” I smiled at her, my eyes taking in the beauty in front of me. I really did miss her. “I missed you so much, it hurts here.” I told her, my hand tapping my chest where my heart was.

She smiled weakly, her eyes pooling with tears, but she was stopping them from falling. “It hurts too… It made me feel like I didn’t deserve to know the truth.”

“No, Nadia. Not like that. I just wasn’t ready to let you see that part of me. I didn’t want to scare you away.”

“I’m still scared.”

“I’m sorry…” I cupped her cheeks, my eyes boring deep into hers, hoping she could see the sincerity in them. “I will make it up to you. You don’t have any reason to be scared of me. I’m not going to that place again.”

NADIA.

We arrived at the western territory, where all the leaders and governing bodies of the whole territory were assembled. Riley told me on our way here that this meeting happened twice a year where he would get reports from everyone about the highs and lows of their own area, including new proposals for future projects and security issues.

We arrived at the exact time, but it took a few minutes before we were able to enter the conference room.

We were met along the way by someone Riley called Elder Maurius, and he led us to the waiting room, which I assumed was just beside the conference room.

“It is a pleasure to have you here, Luna Nadia.” Elder Maurius greeted me after he paid his respects to Riley.

“Same here, Elder Maurius. I apologize, we came in late. Something came up along the way.” I smiled at him, and I was glad that Riley was just allowing me to talk and was just listening.

“No need to apologize, we know there are many things the Alpha needs to attend to. We are just happy that he was able to take you with him. We’ve been waiting to finally meet you personally.”

I just smiled at him, and Ifelt my cheeks starting to turn red. This would be my first official appearance as a Luna. Riley’s arm was wrapped around my waist as he talked to Elder Maurius.

“Why are we not entering the conference room yet?” Riley asked him.

“Oh yes, I almost forgot to tell you. I was distracted by Luna Nadia’s presence. We just needed a few minutes to adjust and fix a seat for the Luna. We were not aware that she was coming and didn’t have a seat for her.”

Riley nodded his head before he smiled cockily. “You shouldn’t have worried. My Luna can sit on my lap.”
