“You’re insane. There are so many rooms in the house that you don’t need to cram into your chair.” She turned around to face me, her eyes rolling as she crossed her arms against her chest.

Even if she was being hostile toward me, I would take this over the one where she wasn’t talking to me at all.

“I know. But the bed won’t be the same without you on it.” I told her, biting my lower lip as I gauged her reaction.

But she just shrugged her shoulders and turned her back on me and started fiddling with the roses, fixing them in her vase.

“You can sleep in the room tonight. I can go back to my old room.” She told me.

“No. I don’t want you to sleep anywhere. You’ll be sleeping there tonight. I’m okay at my office.”

“Did you eat dinner?” She changed the topic, and the hope rising in my chest that she would at least let me stay with her in the room was immediately wiped off.

“Yes.”

“Where did you eat?” She turned around almost immediately and her eyes glared at me for a second before she dropped her gaze.

“In the car, we just bought fast food.”

“And lunch?”

“At the construction site.”

“Someone brought food in there?”

Her questions were confusing to me, but I just found myself answering her. “No. I ordered food for everyone there. I don’t go there every day, so I thought I’d treat the workers and engineers who were working there today.”

She didn’t say anything and just grabbed the vase, holding it close to her chest as she made her way toward the door. I let out a deep sigh as I watched her walk away from me.

“You can sleep in the room tonight, just make sure you stay on your side of the bed.” She said this in a low voice, but loud enough for me to hear before she walked out of the door.

The moment she disappeared from my sight, it was only then that her words sank in and I couldn’t help the smile that was slowly tugging onto my lips.

I guess the flowers worked.

Chapter 42

RILEY.

“So, did the flowerswork?” Beta Dominic asked as I entered the kitchen.

He was sitting by the center counter, and in front of him was Gamma Sebastian. Jenny was preparing warm drinks for them at the kitchen counter.

There was a time, before Andrea came and Jenny had just arrived, that we spent almost every night at this place, just talking and taunting each other.

I missed this. How I wished I could share these kinds of moments with Nadia.

After she left the library, I contemplated whether I should follow after her or just give her time alone before going to bed. I chose the latter and went downstairs, hoping to see Sebastian and Jenny. I wanted to ask for help on how I could further pursue my female.

“I’m not sure. She just said, thank you and left.” I didn’t tell them about Nadia allowing me to sleep in the same room as her because I didn’t want to jinx it.

“Would you like some warm chocolate or milk, Alpha? Or perhaps tea?” Jenny asked as she placed two mugs on the counter and the two males grabbed them.

“No, thank you. I don’t want anything right now.” I smiled at her and she just nodded before I turned my head to Sebastian.

“What do you usually do if Jenny is pissed off at you?” I asked him.

I was desperate to get any help, so I was swallowing my pride and asking for help from them.
