“Is that not what I’m doing?”

Confusion settles over him as he watches me tend to Hazel. Why people have to involve emotions and morals in everything is beyond me. Be yourself. Dowhat you want to do. If everyone did this, we wouldn’t have half of the problems we have in the world. Starving people? Get rid of them. Problem solved. Dumbass running amok committing mass shootings? Kill him. Solved. Want to fuck the neighbor? Fuck them. Solved. All this thinking and making rules is confusing the masses. Do this, don’t do that. Well, fuck you. I’ll do what I want.

“No,” he states, pulling my attention back to him.

“No?”

Joseph shakes his head. “You covet her. You don’t care what she needs so long as you get what you want.”

I know what she needs. I’ve known what she needs for as long as I’ve known her. She doesn’t remember me from high school, but I sure remember her. I couldn’t help but watch her in the halls and follow her home. When she missed school, I would always go check on her. She never knew it, though. Going away to college was a distraction, but it didn’t last long. I was constantly being drawn back to Trinity with the need to see her. Eventually, I worked my way into her life, speaking to her here and there, and felt the time was right to finally make my move. I wanted Hazel to like me. I wanted her to want me back, but I could tell she saw through the facade everyone else bought. I didn’t realize exactly what lay beneath it until the night she unleashed me. Hazel has always been special, but now she’s irreplaceable.

“Love comes in many different forms,” I say as my thumb lightly caresses a bruise on her upper thigh. “Concern, empathy, grief, joy, pride….” I glance up at him. “Coveting.” I focus back on the bruise and notice another love bite high on the side of her upper thigh. Pulling her legs open, I discover more leading up to her pussy. “Hate,” I spew, pinching the mark closest to the one place only I should ever be. “They are all forms of passion, Joseph.”

He gasps as I tug on her skin and takes a step forward. A moan escapes Hazel’s mouth, halting him. He watches as she attempts to rub herself against my hand. My dick twitches in my pants when her cunt brushes against my knuckles.

I slide my hand behind her knee and pull her leg up. Joseph cringes at the fresh marks on the inside of her thigh. I lean down and kiss each mark, stopping at the exposed juncture between her legs. Her scent drives me wild, and I can’t help but breathe as much of it in as I can. Hazel tilts her pelvis toward my face as I blow on her.

“Do you think Cash loves her?”

“Yes.” The word grits from between his teeth, saying it without doubt.

I sit back and nod, playing connect-the-dots on Cash’s marks. “Even knowing that he left these?”

“Yes.”

Hazel whimpers and rubs against my hand again. I stroke her clit with my finger, and she calms to my touch.

“Why?”

“Because he wouldn’t have donethatagainst her will.”

“That?” I point at the bruises again. “Or this?” I drop my head between her legs and lock eyes with Joseph. He watches as my tongue slides up her cunt making her moan.

He shifts uncomfortably on his feet as his hands clasp in front of him. He doesn’t look away, though. I sit up and shake my head laughing. Joseph, Joseph, Joseph. He can deny it all he wants, but he enjoyed that as much as I did.

The door to the bunker squeaks as it opens, then slams shut. Feet clomp down the stairs, and the bags crinkle as they are set down. Joseph and I stare at one another as Dustin pulls open the curtain. He does a double-take when he sees Hazel’s naked body. Dustin tries to disguise the shock with indifference, but he’s never been good at hiding his emotions.

“Quit fucking around, we’ve got work to do,” he says, turning toward the curtain. “And get her dressed.”

He’s getting awfully ballsy telling me what do to, but he’s right. We have a drug to make, and not a lot of time to get it done in. I don’t know how much longer I can stay trapped in this fucking prison. The quicker we get this shit going, the quicker we get the fuck out of here and someplace else where I can walk out in the open.

Joseph sweeps the curtain to the side after we redress Hazel, and signals for me to step through. He doesn’twant to leave me alone with her for a second, but he didn’t stop me when he was standing here either. Maybe he is secretly a voyeur and doesn’t want me to touch her unless he can watch. Everyone has their secrets.

I grab the other side of the curtain and pull it back, a cocky grin spreading over my face. “No, after you.”

CHAPTER 13

CADY

“WELL,I’ll be damned,” Erick mutters as we drive down the alley behind Dustin’s house.

Dustin’s car is actually there for the first time in over a week. We know he’s helping Phil. No other reason for him to be gone for so long. They disappeared around the exact same time. According to Bobby, he hasn’t been by to see his grandmother either. If the cops ever find Phil, they will end up taking Dustin down with him. He should have gotten away from him sooner.

Erick pulls onto the side street and parks. Removing his seat belt, he grabs the door handle.

“What are you doing?”

“I’m gonna wait and see who comes out of his house,” he responds, then opens the door and gets out. “You wait here.”
