‘So hire someone. You’re loaded, shouldn’t be a problem.’ Nate said it in the nicest possible way.

‘Yeah, maybe you’re right. I could arrange for someone to come out and look at the place. Got any recommendations?’

Nate’s laughter echoed against the crackling of the fire. ‘Only Johnny and Devlin.’

‘I’m not sure they’d know one end of a paintbrush from the other, would they?’

‘You’re probably right there, but they’re hard workers, they’ll help with the heavy stuff.’

Jack picked up his coffee cup. ‘I’ll think about it.’

Devlin and Johnny were certainly a possibility if they could help him with the heavier tasks—ripping out the old bathrooms and kitchens, dumping everything in a skip so he could make a fresh start on the place.

But there was someone else Jack had in mind. Someone he had to find first.
