“You really didn’t know?” Jaclyn, Marshall’s wife, asked.
“No. All the ultrasounds ever showed was one baby. They call it hidden twin. Usually they’re discovered before now but the second little guy was shy and he never showed until now.”
“You know you’re going to have to add on to your cottage now,” Chase said.
“Calling Harlan Sullivan tomorrow,” Gabe answered. Sullivan owned Phoenix construction and had done a lot of building and remodeling on the ranch.
After Gabe and Chantel talked to the parents and everyone was getting ready to leave, Jedidiah had a chance to talk to Gabe alone for a moment. “Does Angel know? Because I can’t talk to her before she knows. There’s no way I can keep this from her.”
“Chantel told her earlier today.”
“Thank goodness. I figured she would have but I just wanted to make sure. How are you doing, Gabe? You seem pretty Zen about it.”
He laughed. “Zen is not the word I’d use. I’m terrified. I was worried before when there was only one. Now…” He shrugged. “But I’m happy and Chantel is over the moon, so we’ll be okay.”
“I’m sure you will.” She hugged him and Chantel and then she left.
I’m going to be an aunt. To twins. Wow.
She really was settling in to life in Whiskey River. She’d never imagined living there permanently but the longer she lived there as an adult, the more she liked it. Rampant gossip and all.
