Chapter Sixteen

What is goingon with her?Trevor thought Jedidiah had gotten past her, in his opinion, irrational fear that being part of Bikers For Kids was somehow dangerous. Yet she obviously hadn’t.

“Why are you so worried, Jedidiah?”

She started to say something but seemed to change her mind. “I think you’re being too cavalier and…and…naive to refuse to consider that something bad could happen to you if you go to court with Ricky.”

He sighed in exasperation. “I didn’t say I’d refuse to consider it. Or that it’s impossible. I just consider the risk to be minuscule and therefore well worth it.”

She was still struggling and he didn’t doubt there was more to it than she was admitting. But she wasn’t ready to tell him. “Hey.” Trevor put his arms around her and pulled her close. Kissed her neck and murmured, “What can I do to make you feel better?” He kissed a line along her jawbone, ending with his lips beside her mouth. He could feel the tension ebbing from her body.

“You can’t seduce away all my concerns.”

“We could try.” He took her mouth boldly, thrust his tongue inside and demanded a response.

She gave it to him, meeting his tongue with her own in a sexy thrust and parry. He boosted her up and she wrapped her legs around him. The bedroom seemed way too far away so he headed for the couch, stopping to exchange open-mouthed kisses along the way. Jedidiah’s hands were busy shoving and pulling his T-shirt up. He managed to strip it off without dropping her, then helped her out of her shirt, flinging it aside. Her bra went next.

He stumbled to the couch with her. Standing beside it he got rid of his jeans, watching as she did the same. When they were naked, he put one hand on her breast, enjoying the way she pressed it into his palm. He put his other hand on her ass and pressed her against him, his cock hard against her stomach, and kissed her intensely and deeply.

“Trevor.”

“What?”

“Make love to me.”

“Count on it.” He kissed her again. She lay on her back on the couch and he followed her down, her legs parting and his cock against her soft, warm flesh. “Oh, crap.”

“What’s wrong?”

The very last thing he wanted to do was to leave her. “Condoms.” He groaned. “They’re in the bedroom.”

“We don’t need one.”

He stopped in the process of getting up. “Why not?”

“I’m on the pill. And I haven’t been with anyone else since—” She stopped abruptly, then continued. “Since Noah died.”

“It’s been a long time for me too. And I’ve always used a condom.”

“Then what are you waiting for?” she asked huskily.

“Not a thing.” She widened her legs and he drove inside her, thrusting in and pulling out in a rhythm that pushed them both higher and higher. Her inner muscles tightened around him and he knew he wouldn’t last much longer. Just the thought of nothing being between them had turned him on, but the actual experience was flat-out amazing. Wanting to make sure she was with him, he reached between them to fondle her.

She gasped and said his name, raising her hips to meet his hand. As she convulsed he withdrew his hand and drove into her as deep as he could. “Can’t wait,” he said, and poured into her endlessly, or so it seemed.

Sex with Jedidiah was awesome. He’d never had sex like that before. Sure, it was always good. But this…this was transcendent. He’d have laughed if another guy had described sex like that but it was true. Was it because until Jedidiah he hadn’t had sex in a long time? Or was it because it was Jedidiah he’d made love to? Or was it because… Oh, God… He was in love with her.

A six a.m.phone call meant trouble to most people. To Jedidiah it didn’t, necessarily, since most of her family were ranchers and raised horses. Apparently it did to Trevor though, since he jumped up like there was a fire when he heard a riff from Johnny Cash’s ‘Ring of Fire’—Damaris’s cell tone.

Jedidiah grabbed her phone and told Trevor, “It’s Damaris. Don’t worry. I’m sure it’s nothing.” He stood there, hands on hips, wearing nothing but his navy boxers. He looked sleepy and gorgeous. Who knew the man would wake up looking so delicious?

“If it’s nothing why is she calling so early?”

“It’s not early to her,” she said. Nevertheless, she blasted Damaris when she answered the phone. “Some of us like to sleep past the butt crack of dawn.”

“Live with it,” her unrepentant sister said. “I have lots to do.”
