“I was thinking maybe a few months.”
“Do you really need a few months?Do you really need that long to decide if I’m the right man for you?” he said frowning. She stared up at him and shook her head.
“No.No, I do not.Yes, I’ll marry you.”
It was no surprise to anyone at Belle Fleur.Preparations had already been underway, secretly.Tru, Caroline, Ajei, Claudette, and all the other wives had everything under control.
But before they could get married, Blythe wanted the matter of Fitzwilliam settled.
“I don’t want to be worried about him coming for you, or me.I just want to know that he’s behind bars or, something,” she said hesitantly.
“Don’t worry, honey,” said Tru.“The boys will handle him.You just worry about taking care of yourself and the wedding plans. They’ll figure out the rest.”
Making their way to the cafeteria for dinner, the women were laughing and talking about weddings when the skies decided it was a good time open up and create a downpour.
Running down the path, they finally made it to the cafeteria, soaking wet.Towels were handed to all of them as they dried off.
“You know, it surprises me with all the amazing things you have here and the unbelievable technology, that you haven’t covered the paths so that you can move between buildings and cottages untouched when the weather is bad,” said Blythe.
All of the men looked at one another, then back at Gaspar and Nine.Seated in the corner, as the ghosts tended to do, Irene and Matthew giggled.
“Took y’all long enough,” she smirked.
“Mama, why wouldn’t you just tell us to do that?” asked Baptiste.
“I tell y’all to do all kinds of things and you usually ignore me.This was somethin’ that would have benefited all of you.I wasn’t about to steal that joy from you.”
“I guess we have our next project,” said Nine.“We’ll get started on that tomorrow.”
“You mean you’re really taking my idea?” asked Blythe.
“Honey, it was a great idea.I’m only mad that I didn’t think of it myself,” said Gaspar.
“My son is marrying a very smart woman,” grinned Rush.“Just like his father and grandfather did.”
“Way to suck up,” smirked Cowboy.
“You should be saying the same thing. We all married up.We’re damn lucky and I’m reminded of it every day that I’m alive.”
“Hey,” said AJ walking toward the group.“Fitzwilliam and Wadston were seen crossing the border into Israel. The corpsman was found dead in South Carolina.”
“Israel?Why?Why there?” asked Gator.
“To wipe out populations other than those they want there,” said Blythe.
“And what populations are those?” asked Logan.
“I don’t know.It would depend on who he’s partnered with or made a deal with, I guess. You guys would know that better than me.”
“Get the gear ready,” said Conor.“It looks like we’re going to take another trip together fellas.”
“I enjoy our trips together, boys,” smirked Fitch. He grinned at the others in their ‘party’.Moose, Sor, Pax, Saint, and River all nodded, laughing.Logan smiled at the them.
“Let’s go party.”
CHAPTER SIXTEEN
Blythe stood in the doorway of Logan’s bedroom watching him pack his duffel. She’d already been told that weapons, vests and other defense items were pre-loaded on the Osprey.
