“I thought you were going over to their cabin? Did something happen?” he asks, looking up and down my body. “Are you alright? Did you get hurt anywhere?”
“You’ve got him wrapped around your finger,” Scarlett whispers. “He won’t do anything to you that you are worried about. He’s so in love with you.”
I look between Scarlett and Daddy before realizing that she is right. And Daddy has been showing me with his actions this whole time.
“Little One, what’s wrong?” he asks as he gets closer to us.
“Nothing,” I reply as we both stand up.
“I’m going to go back to the cabin,” Scarlett says. “We’ll definitely need to hang out again sometime. Tobias, don’t worry. I came down here because I figured she might get lost even though the cabin is close by.”
“And because I almost went back into the cabin,” I point out as she walks away. “But don’t worry, she got to me before I could get back home.”
His eyes widen. “Home?”
CHAPTER 16
TOBIAS
“Time isn’t going to move any faster even if you keep checking your phone,” Thorin says as he shakes his head. “It just changed, so it’s still going to be the same.”
Sighing, I run my hands over my face. Who knew being away from Mila for a couple of hours was going to be this hard?
“How is she holding up?” Thorin asks.
“Mila’s doing well. She’s gotten several things off her chest while she’s been here and I think she’s feeling lighter than she ever has,” I reply.
“But?”
“But she isn’t sure if she wants to stay here or if she wants to go back to her apartment.”
It’s worrying me. There is a connection between us, and I know she feels it as well. The way she steals little glances at me when she doesn’t think I’m looking and how she always wants to be around me, touching me.
“What are you going to do about it?” Thorin asks.
“Yeah, I want to know this as well,” Aiden says. “You seem pretty serious about her.”
“If she wants to go back to her apartment… I’ve thought about following her,” I honestly reply. “That is until she is ready to come back here and live with me.”
Both of their mouths hang open, and I roll my eyes.
“You said you were never going to leave this place and live somewhere else,” Aiden points out.
“Love changes you,” Thorin says. “If Scarlett said she was going to leave, I would chase after her until she agreed to come back with me.”
“You would have tied her up and told her she wasn’t going anywhere.” I roll my eyes. “She wouldn’t even have a chance to leave.”
“I thought you would be the same way,” Aiden says.
“I want to be, but I don’t need to scare her off or make her leave me,” I point out. “I want this to work, and if I need to push those desires down, then I will.”
“Tru—”
“Are we done here?” I interrupt him. “I would like to get back to her.”
Thorin laughs. “Yes, we are.”
“And because Ialmost didn’t go over,” Mila says as Scarlett walks away. “But don’t worry, she got to me before I could get back home.”
