“Hi, Little One,” he coos at me. “Are you ready for your nap?”

“Just want you two,” I mumble.

“I’ll take her back to the house if that’s okay with you,” Daddy says to Aiden.

“That’s fine.”

Daddy picks me up and holds me close to him. I snuggle into his chest, holding Billie close to me.

“So tired,” I mumble.

“You can fall asleep. Daddy is right here.”

CHAPTER 15

MILA

Daddy had gone to work, leaving me at his cabin all alone until I had to go meet the other girl. Nerves run through me as I sit on the porch. I really need to leave, but I can’t make myself get up. Am I really going to go over to the other girl’s house and meet her?

Nope.

I’m not going to.

Standing up, I walk to the front door, and my hand is on the knob when a voice appears.

“I thought I might find you here,” a female voice says. “I’m Scarlett, the girl you are supposed to meet today.”

My back goes stiff as I continue to look at the door. Shit. I wasn’t expecting her to appear here.

“Why don’t we just sit on the porch and talk for a little bit?” she asks. “It’s okay if you don’t, but I would really like to. Nora would be here with me but she had to go into town with her Daddies.”

“Daddies?” I can’t help but ask.

“Yep.” She pops the P. “She has two of them. Come on and sit down. I don’t bite. Normally I’m not this social, but when I heard another girl came here and fell in love… well, I got excited.”

I turn around to see her already sitting on the stairs. “Sorry.”

“What are you sorry for?” she asks. “Come and sit down.”

Sitting next to her, I play with my hands. “I’m sorry that I didn’t come. Daddy isn’t here, Aiden is doing who knows what, and I just got nervous. I also don’t really know my way around here and got worried that I was going to get lost, but I was more nervous about meeting you than anything.”

“Whoa, that was a lot in one go. Just take a deep breath. Everything is going to be okay,” she gently says. “I figured you didn’t know this place very well, so I told my Daddy that I was going to your place to meet you just in case. Don’t feel bad about not wanting to come. The first time I met Nora, I didn’t want to go either.”

“Really?”

She nods. “I had just had a baby and wasn’t really allowed to do much. She came and well, we are best friends now, but I didn’t want to meet her to begin with. I was content with being with Daddy and our daughter.”

“That makes me feel a little better.”

“Great, that is really good to hear. Now, let’s talk about things. Anything.” She claps her hands. “Have you explored around here?”

“No, I’m too nervous that I’m going to get lost,” I reply.

“I get lost a lot, but the workers know that there are three girls here and many guests who come and go. There is no doubt going to be people who are lost and they help out a lot,” she explains. “If you ever do get lost, don’t walk around. Just sit where you are and every once in a while talk so that if someone is passing, they can hear you and help.”

“Do you know from experience?” I ask.

She nods. “I’ve gotten lost a couple of times. One was particularly bad ‘cause I kept remembering that I went this way when I really didn’t and ended up further away from the cabins.Daddy was not happy with me and told me next time to just stay put and eventually someone will find you.”
