“We were talking about the man you saw in the hallway,” he replies.

My eyes go wide, and I pull away to look up at Daddy. “Did they find him? Are they going to take him in? Did they find any evidence?”

“Wow, Little one. Everything is okay. Just calm down and let me tell you about it.” Daddy chuckles.

“Why did you have to keep it a secret if you were going to tell me what he said?” I ask.

Was it just to see if I would not fight him as much? Did it want to do it because he could?

“I didn’t want you to have to listen to the gory details about it,” Daddy replies. “While there wasn’t anything too bad about what he said, I didn’t want you to listen to it and possibly have nightmares. I want you to relax and let Daddy take care of everything.”

I twist my hands together and take a deep breath.

“What did he say?” I whisper, worried that it’s not going to be good.

“He said that there has been a lot of evidence piling up against the man for several months. Having him on video has helped a lot, and he is going to be sent to prison,” Daddy replies. “He has already been taken into custody and will no longer bother either one of us. We don’t have to worry about him.”

My body relaxes, and I smile at Daddy. “I’m glad. I was worried that he would do it to some other girl, or he would come back to me when you were gone, and I wouldn’t be able to do anything.”

I haven’t thought about it much, but when I did, it was always the same thing over and over again. Never knowing if, when Daddy went to his room for the night, and I was in my kennel, he would come into the apartment and come and take me.

I shiver at the thought, and Daddy pulls me close to him.

“He isn’t going to come to get you or any other girl. So you don’t have to worry.” Daddy runs his hands up and down my back. “Everyone is safe now.”

“Is Venkoria normally safe?” I ask.

He nods. “Yes, this is very rare. Everyone respects each other and doesn’t do anything to harm anyone. The last time we had a case like this was over forty years ago.”

I hum and lean my head on his chest, relaxing even more.

“What does Ronal do?” I ask.

“He is in security. He makes sure that the buildings are safe. He has been trying to find out where this person had gone. When I called him to look into our camera, he finally found the culprit. He makes sure that the ships going to your space station are also safe and have no one on them who will harm the girls,” Daddy explains. “If there is anything wrong with any security, he goes over there and fixes it. He is constantly busy.”

“Will he find a girl of his own?” I can’t help but ask.

Daddy hums and looks over at the window. “I’m not sure. I know he wants one, but he may not have enough time to dedicate to her.”

“He should hire someone to help him, so they can share the responsibility. Then they both can have a girl,” I smile great big. “Or two people, so then it won’t be as much. That way, all of them will have time with their own girl.”

Daddy runs his hands through my hair and smiles. “You are so right. I’ll let Ronal know the next time I see him.”

I snuggle into Daddy’s chest and relax, feeling accomplished for what I just suggested.

“Maybe when the girls come to Venkoria and are in the cages, you could have someone who has been here for a while go talk to them to help lessen the fight that the other Daddies will have,” I offer. “I think it would be wise because then you can have so many more special, happy moments together and not fight likewe did. I think it would help the other girls not be as scared since they will have someone to talk to when they get here who has experienced what they are going through.”

I wish I had something like that. It would have made everything so much better… I think.

“Sadly—”

“I really think it would help everyone. I think it would be wise to do it since no one knows how to act. We’ve never been around males before. To be honest, I was scared and didn’t want to be anywhere near you. I think if we were able to talk to other girls and let them know that they can trust you, it will all be better in the end,” I rush to say, trying to get him to understand where I am coming from. “And it will help you as well, not only us. Just think of the benefits your kind will get if you let us talk to the other girls before they go to their owners. It will be much easier for everyone. The girls will be able to trust their owners faster, and everyone will live a happy life sooner.”

But it will be a lot more impactful for the girls. I know they will struggle if someone doesn’t explain that they aren’t going to hurt them and that they don’t mean to treat us like dogs. Or, at least, Daddy hasn’t in some ways. They didn’t know we could talk and take care of ourselves. They didn’t know anything about us before.

“Leah,” he gently says.

“I don’t like it when you call me that,” I mumble.
