“If you’re safe too.” I bit my lip, knowing it might be a non-starter. No doubt he got far more action than me.

“I was tested last month,” he said thoughtfully. “I haven’t had sex since the test.”

“Really?”

He winked. “Rumors of my whorishness are, unfortunately, exaggerated.”

Yet another way I’d gotten him wrong. Would I never cease making mistakes when it came to Zeke Watts?

“Then fuck me,” I said. “Prove to me that not all of the rumors about you are false.”

His grin spread, and while it was as teasing as ever, honest joy shone in his eyes too. “Challenge accepted.”

He fitted himself against me and pushed in an inch at a time, waiting for me to adjust. I stiffened at first, unused to the intrusion, but then the cool metal of his piercing bumped against the inside of my channel and I gasped. Oh, that had potential. When he was seated fully inside me, he captured my mouth in a thorough kiss that left me breathless and my lips slightly swollen.

He drew back and thrust deeper. I clutched his shoulders and wrapped my calves around the backs of his thighs, urging him on. He moved faster, winding me tighter, like a thread about to snap. I heard myself murmuring nonsense words and making sounds of pleasure as he filled me again and again. It felt incredible to have him like this. His dark eyes burned as he gazed down at me, and I found myself unable to look away.

“Are you going to come for me, beautiful?” he asked, never taking his eyes off me. I could see the pleasure in his, and it thrilled me to know he felt that because of me. I’d done that to him. I was the reason this enigmatic man was coming undone.

“I’m so close,” I panted.

He kissed me again, and his pelvis ground into my clitoris. Sparks exploded behind my eyelids and I shook as I fell apart beneath him.

“That’s it,” he said. “You’re fucking perfect.”

His thrusts became erratic and then he stilled, pulsing inside me. Feeling him come without a condom was intense, and an aftershock rippled through me. He flopped to the side, being careful not to crush me. I hesitated for a moment, debating whether to clean up, but then he pulled me into his arms and settled me against his chest.

“Stay,” he said, his voice rich with satisfaction. “Right here.”

ZEKE

There wasnothing quite like waking with an armful of beautiful woman, the scent of sex still hanging in the air. I grinned, feeling lighter than I had in years, and pressed a kiss to Fiona’s forehead. She mumbled something sleepily but otherwise, didn’t stir. Carefully, and reluctantly, I untangled myself from her. I had no regrets, but I also didn’t know what this meant. I did know that Fiona wasn’t the type of woman who’d mess around with someone for the hell of it—provided, of course, that her decision-making hadn’t been blunted by adrenaline. I also knew that she’d jumped off theside of a yacht into deep, cold water purely because I’d said to.

She trusted me, and that made my heart feel two sizes too big.

Not only was my trust rarely given, but few people ever fully trusted me in return. Ronan did. I thought Kade might too, although I could never be certain with him. But Fiona’s trust was an unexpected gift, and I intended to protect it. I wouldn’t give her any reason to doubt me.

I edged from the bed and stood over her for a moment, taking in the contrast between her fiery hair and her pale skin. Even in sleep, she was vibrant. Unable to resist, I stroked the backs of my fingers across her cheek, then bent and kissed her shoulder. I pulled on a pair of track pants and a t-shirt, grabbed my phone, which Kade had given me last night before we parted ways, and left the room before she woke. I closed the door behind me.

Kade sat on the sofa, a mug of steaming yellowish liquid on the coffee table in front of him. I wasn’t surprised. I’d heard him come in earlier, but I hadn’t wanted to leave Fiona. Moments like that were meant to be cherished. He gave me a look that said he had a pretty good idea of what I’d been up to. He didn’t comment on it though. In some ways, his silence was harder to handle.

I sighed and tugged my hand through my rumpled hair. “Don’t give me that look. I have no idea what we’re doing, but I promise, I won’t hurt her.”

He nodded. “She’s been through enough.”

I went to the kitchenette and searched the cupboards. There was no good coffee, just the instant stuff. I made a cup anyway. Caffeine was definitely called for this morning.

“What’s that?” I asked, gesturing to his mug.

His face crinkled with distaste. “Some kind of herbal teathat Sage is convinced is better than coffee for waking you up.”

I sat kitty corner to him, on an armchair. “What’s the verdict?”

“It tastes fucking awful, so I suppose you could say it’s enough to shock someone awake.”

I chuckled and sipped my shitty instant coffee. Kade was so gone for his girl. He’d probably drink green smoothies for breakfast if she decided that was what he needed. It was sweet, and usually, I’d give him hell for it, but today, I wasn’t in the mood to rile him up.

“Do we have any orders from the boss man?” I asked.
