“Yes,” Kiley replied. “Any actual terrorist activities on file?”

“No, just suspicions. Nothing else except that Nasim was a former sniper and is suspected of committing several murders. And the Amari brothers have a short listing. Members of Waleed’s Righteous group, but that’s it. No terroristic activities tied to either of them.”

“If any of these names come up on the radar, will you contact me?” Kiley asked.

“Sure thing.”

Kiley thanked Deb and tapped her screen to end the call.

“Well, that was a blast.” Mack shook his head and took a long pull on his can of Red Bull.

“You won’t believe this,” Cam said. “I just did a quick internet search on Nabi and Shah. Take a look at the screen.”

They all looked up at the TV. A grainy picture of two men filled the screen.

“That’s Darzi and Rostami.” Kiley shot a confused look at Cam. “The guys Pilcher stopped.”

“No.” A smug grin crossed Cam’s face. “You’re looking at Nabi and Shah.”

“Son of a gun.” Mack set down his can and leaned closer. “Darzi and Rostami are aliases. Explains why the wonder boy here couldn’t find anything on them.”

“Then we need to rethink the apartment breach,” Evan stated. “These guys are extremely dangerous.”

“They were dangerous under the other names too,” Kiley said. “The plan stands. They should’ve settled by ten. We go in then.”

CHAPTER 21

THE ALARM KILEY HAD SET FOR THE RAID SOUNDED,bringing her to her feet, her heart pounding. She looked at Mack. “Weapons loaded in the vehicle?”

Mack nodded, and Kiley rushed to the bins he’d delivered to get out ballistic vests. She tossed them to the team. Evan grabbed one from his tote bag, and tensions mounted as the ripping sound of Velcro cut through the air.

She secured the last tab on her vest, catching Cam’s longing gaze following their movements. She wished he could come along, or even achieve his dream of becoming an agent so he could be a part of their ops.

She smiled at him. “Thanks for holding down the fort. I appreciate everything you do.”

“Doesn’t make it easier, you know.” He shook his head. “Maybe I need to start doing a bad job so Eisenhower will let me apply.”

“Probably not the best plan,” Mack said.

“Yeah, probably not.” He slumped down in his chair. “FYI, I got the Washington DOT files. Nabi and Shah got off I-5 in Olympia, and I lost them there.”

Kiley loaded extra ammo magazines in her vest pouch. “It was inevitable that we’d run out of camera coverage and lose them at some point. Any thoughts on why they stopped in Olympia?”

“Nothing there target-wise, so maybe a pit stop.” Cam got up and headed for the door.

She thought to call after him, but there was nothing she could do to ease his mind and she had to move on. She grabbed a marker and crossed the video lead off the board, then turned back to the others. “Okay, let’s go meet with SWAT and get this op going.”

Mack marched for the door.

Evan hung back. “Kiley, a word before we go.”

She glanced at him, then at Mack. “We’ll meet you at the car.”

He arched an eyebrow and didn’t move.

She waved him on. “Go. Be there in a sec.”

One last lingering look and he departed.
