“You got it.” Mack headed out of the room.

Kiley was starting to read the report from Deb when her phone rang and Ulrich Lane’s name popped onto the screen. She eagerly answered, the desperation in her tone scaring her and had to be unsettling for Ulrich.

“We cracked the code,” he said, sounding more tired than excited. “I’ll email the information to you.”

“Do it now! Don’t waste a second.”

“Will do, but FYI, you should know the extra code you gave me was the key to making sense of this one.”

“Glad to hear it,” she said and disconnected. “Ulrich deciphered the code.” She looked at Evan and smiled. “And the words from Gadi’s tattoo were the key. Good work on figuring that out.”

He returned her smile but didn’t let it distract her. She shifted her attention to her phone, waiting for the email from Ulrich.

C’mon, C’mon, C’mon. Send it already.

“You think this is finally it?” Evan asked. “The location we need.”

“We better hope so,” Sean said.

Kiley shook her hands and danced in place to displace her anxiety. Her phone chimed. She snatched it up and read the message aloud.

“‘Neverforget 9/11,’ the infidels say. We will not forget either. We will remember and inflict more pain than they couldever imagine. When the clock strikes midnight on 9/11, wewill strike. Allah be with you on your travels tothe GC Dam.”

“GC has to stand for the Glen Canyon Dam,” Evan said.

Kiley’s heart dropped, and she thought of her mother, her grandparents. Her only relatives on this earth. In the path of assured destruction if she didn’t stop the attack. She had to stop it. For them. For everyone, so when this was all over, she could visit her mother and clear the air once and for all.

“We finally have our target,” Evan said, bringing her back.

She was in charge of this investigation, and she had to let go of her fear for her family so she could lead the team. Let go of every emotion except the desire to find the terrorists and bring them down. She couldn’t do it alone. Not at all.

Father, please show me the way to stop this attack. Watch over my family. Don’t let them or anyone be harmed.

“Kiley,” Sean said, “what do you want to do?”

“I’ll put a visual of the dam on the TV.” She clicked around on her computer, her fingers shaking as she brought up an aerial shot of the Glen Canyon Dam.

The door opened, and Mack along with Cam sauntered into the room. Cam looked tired and was wearing the same clothes as the last time she’d seen him. He ran his gaze around the table. “Hey, what’s up? Why so tense?”

Kiley updated him and Mack on the message. “We’ve researched this dam, but we need every bit of information you can find on the place.”

Cam nodded. “Thought you might want to hear what I discovered in my hack.”

“What?” Sean’s eyes widened. “You honestly got something?”

“Now, that hurts my feelings.” Cam feigned pulling a knife from his chest as he dropped into a chair and put two laptops on the table.

“Just tell us what you have,” Evan snapped, a testament to the pressure they were all under. “Sorry, man. Stress.”

“No worries.” Cam leaned back in his chair and clasped his hands behind his head. “So Nasim Waleed must have felt very secure in his phone communications as he texted openly with Gadi regarding the Pittsburgh bomb. They analyzed the failure and talked about how to correct the timing in the big event.”

“Did they name the event?” Kiley asked, holding her breath while she waited for a reply.

Cam shook his head. “But he confirmed that he and Ibrahim were decoys meant to keep us busy. And he confirmed the Amari brothers, along with Nabi and Shah, are to be involved in the attack, but no details.”

“You think they planned a bomb or a cyber attack?” Kiley asked.

Cam shrugged.
