But that does explain why he got so jealous when I flirted with other men. Because Gianna left him for Will.

I find myself showing up at my brother’s house without even thinking about it.

“Ciara?” Cormac asks after he opens the door. “What are you doing here?”

I can’t stop myself from crying as I rush into my brother’s arms. I know he’ll protect me. Ease my pain.

After a moment, Cormac hugs me close, trying his best to comfort me. “Are you crying because of Marco?”

“Yes,” I admit through my cries.

“That fucker needs to pay for hurting you. I will make him pay.”

This time, I don’t tell Cormac to stop. I don’t say anything.

Chapter Fourteen

Ciara

When I return home, Marco confronts me in the entranceway. “Where were you?”

“Do you really have the right to ask me that? You’re in love with another woman. You don’t get a say in my life.”

“I am not in love with her, Ciara.”

“Really? But you’re so obsessed with wanting Will Taylor dead – the man she ended up with. How is that not love?” I try walking past him but Marco grabs my arm.

“You are still mine.”

“I never wanted to be.”

“You didn’t seem upset by the idea when my mouth was on your pussy.”

I flush at the memory. An arousal forms between my legs. I wish I could feel it again but the last thing I want is Marco touching me knowing he has feelings for another woman. “That was before I found out you’re still in love with another woman.”

“I told you,” he growls. “I never loved her.”

“So then why do you want Will dead so badly?”

He hesitates, unable to give me an answer, and proving my point.

“See?” I say, ripping my arm from his hand.

“You don’t get to walk away.” He follows right behind me, not giving me any space.

“And you don’t get to control my life. You gave me hope, Marco. Hope that we could maybe make this work and that’s the saddest part of all.”

“Need I remind you that you wanted me dead at one point? Neither one of us is an angel.”

“Fine,” I snap, whirling around to face him. “I know I’m not perfect and I never expected you to be either. But it hurts knowing you’re on this revenge path because of another woman.”

“Will left me for dead. I want him gone for that reason.”

“…And because he took Gianna, who you wanted to make yours.”

He runs his hand down his face. “Fine. Yes. That’s the other reason but not the only reason. I do want Will dead because he shot me. I do want Enzo dead because he betrayed me when he worked with the Bratva.”

“And now you’re married to an Irish woman. You’re a hypocrite, Marco. Leave me alone.” I turn away from him but he grabs my arm once more.
