He cocked his head to one side. “For?”

“For being upset that he lied to me when you have so much more cause to be angry at him.”

“It’s not a competition.”

I still felt bad though, but Dathal withdrew his hand, and I knew our time was up. “Have you got time for breakfast or at least a coffee?”

Regret flashed in his eyes as he pointed to his phone. “Axel’s on his way to pick me up.” He stood, smoothing down last night’s clothes that looked out of place in daylight.

Still hot though.

I climbed out of bed, still naked, but I didn’t give a shit about that. This could well be the last time I got to have Dathal like this, so I was going to make the most of it. Grabbing his hand, I tugged him close until I could slip my arms around him. “Thank you for last night.”

His eyes danced with laughter, smile huge as he shook his head. “Tsk, you should know better than to thank a fae.” He pulled me tight against him, his interest evident in the growing hardness against my hip. “Now you’re in my debt.”

“Is that actually true?” I asked, curious. “Because even if it is, I don’t give a fuck. Last night was worth it a hundred times over.” He’d given me back my magic for a few glorious moments, and I’d owe anything he wanted for that.

He laughed, eyes crinkling at the edges. “Careful. I’ll walk out of here with an ego bigger than Axel’s.” His expression sobered a little. “But to answer your question, yes, it used to be. Now not so much, but better to be cautious.” He leant in and kissed me, catching me off guard. I only had a moment to return it before he pulled back, smile softer this time. “You’re safe with me. I won’t hold you to anything, but I would like to see you again when we return from my realm.” His gaze dipped lower, smile turning wicked. “Maybe next time we can fuck.” Drawing his bottom lip between his teeth, he brushed his thumb over a spot at the base of my throat. I was pretty sure that was where he’d bitten me last night. “Imagine how good that will be…”

Oh, I am, believe me.

I gave a pointed look down at my cock, which was already on board, and Dathal laughed again. And someone knocked on my front door.

Fucking Axel.

“I need to go.” Dathal kissed me once more, and this time I was ready. Hands fisted in his hair, I poured everything into it. Tried to show him how much last night had meant to me and how desperate I was to do it all again. I wanted to leave him with no doubt that I’d be waiting for him when he got back.

His phone pinged with a text, more than likely Axel wanting to know what he was doing, so I reluctantly let him go. “You’re going through the gateway tomorrow, right?”

“Yes, but I’m not sure when we’ll be back.”

“Because of the time thing?” I knew it passed differently over there for some reason.

“Exactly.” He thrust his phone at me. “If you give me your number, I’ll contact you when we come back through.”

I tapped in my contact details, sending myself a text in the process. It felt weird, Dathal having something so ordinary as a phone. Did they have such things in the Fae Realm? If not, how did they communicate? Axel had been here for long enough, I never thought about these things with him. But Dathal? He still had that otherworldly presence that gave rise to so many questions.

But they’d have to wait because he was already moving. “I’ll see you soon.”

Palming my cock, I gave him a show as he walked backwards towards the door. “Already looking forward to it.”

His laughter echoed in the hallway, and I sank back onto my bed, unable to believe last night had actually happened. I wanted to tell someone, wanted to gloat about it in all its earth-shattering glory and show them the mark on my wrist and ask their advice.

But I couldn’t do that, because the one person who’d happily talk about my sex life had no idea that I’d kept a huge fucking secret.

Maybe it was time to change that.

Reaching for my phone, I typed out a message to Mase.

Nick: Still okay to meet up today?

Mase: Yep. I have a few things I’d like to talk to you about too.

Arse, I just bet he did.

Clearly it was too much to ask that my early departure had gone unnoticed last night.

Mase: Can we make it in the next hour or so? Got to meet up with Max and Dathal this afternoon. I can come to you if you want?
