Perfect.

Crawling forward, I slid my hands over muscled thighs dusted with dark hair that tickled my palms. Nick groaned as I traced delicate fingers higher and higher, lip caught between his teeth.

“Can you feel it?” I whispered, watching him for signs. Drinking in the sight of him writhing under my touch.

“Yes,” he ground out, opening his eyes with what looked like enormous effort. The brown was almost eclipsed by blown pupils as he watched me. “It’s like… like…” I wrapped a hand around his cock, and his back arched, head thrust back into the pillow as he cried out. “Fuck.”

“Good?” I prompted, leaning closer.

Nick nodded, eyes screwed shut. “So fucking good.”

And it was about to get better.

I ducked my head, taking him in my mouth with a moan of my own as his taste hit my tongue. His scent surrounded me, spicy and sharp, sending arousal through me that made my pulse race. With my magical defences lowered like this, I had no control over the way my magic sought out Nick’s.

Each bob of my head, each stroke of my tongue along the length of his dick connected us in a way I felt down to my bones. Nick’s magic might’ve been locked up tight, but it was stillthere, lurking inside him, waiting to be set free.

I let him fall from my mouth, trailing kisses over his belly and chest, burying my face in the crook of his neck as his hands found their way into my hair. Everywhere I touched him, I left my mark behind. Not visible to the naked eye, but I felt it. Felt my magic brush over his skin, seeking out the markings etched there.

“This okay?” I asked, settling between his legs so my cock rubbed along his. The desperate need to spread his thighs wide and sink inside him was almost more than I could resist, yet I fought the urge. I’d had every intention of doing exactly that when I’d walked into his house, but then I’d been sorely unprepared for the intensity building between us. If it felt like this now, I wasn’t sure either of was ready for how it would be if we fucked.

At least not yet, anyway.

His gaze met mine, understanding in his eyes, as though he’d read my thoughts. “Yeah. It’s perfect.”

He pushed his hips up, and I met each slow thrust with one of my own. Pleasure curled inside me, a ball of heat spreading outward like an ever-growing wave, magical energy crackling in the air, linking us together.

I kissed the spot behind his ear, dragging my lips down the side of his neck and along his collarbone, drawing out moan after delicious moan. His legs wrapped around my waist, and he ground against me with purpose, chasing his release like it might escape him if he didn’t. As much as I wanted to make this last, I was helpless to stop my body reacting.

Nick’s hitched breaths urged me on, every little sound he made sparking a need inside me. I was no shifter, but the urge to bite him, to leave a more noticeable mark, swelled up inside me, hot and insistent. I nipped the base of his throat, testing his reaction, and when he tipped his head to the side, groaning softly in encouragement, I took that as my cue and bit down hard.

“Fuck!” Nick’s grip on my hair turned almost painful. His whole body stiffened as he came, coating my belly, as he rode out an orgasm that tipped me over the edge with its intensity. I cried out, clinging to him as pleasure flooded my senses, lost to everything except the glorious feeling sweeping though me.

I lay there, face still pressed into his throat, breathing heavily as silence settled around us. Nick’s chest rose and fell beneath me, his heart thudding a wild beat that matched my own.

“Dathal.” The worried edge to his voice had me rolling off him onto my side to face him. He raised his wrist, and it took me a beat longer to notice what had him so concerned.

Taking his wrist in my hands, I bent closer to get a better look. Where before had been three links intertwined, there were now only two. I traced them, the tingle of magic still clinging to him.

Mymagic.

Possessiveness wasn’t something I usually experienced in my life, but the thought of my magic affecting Nick’s like that, unlocking what others had hidden from him, it stirred something inside me that I didn’t recognise.

I liked it though.

More than I should.

“What does it mean?”

Nick stared at his mark a moment longer before looking up at me. “I’m guessing whatever we just did shaved some time off my sentence.”

I couldn’t stop the wide smile any more than I could the smugness I felt at his words.

I did that.

Shrugging out of my grip, he wrapped his own hand around his wrist, and I realised with a jolt he didn’t seem as happy as me about this new development. “Is this not a good thing?”

“They gave me this for a reason.” He closed his eyes, the resigned sigh as unwelcome as the uncertainty coming off him now.
