“You’re not planning on going to London alone, are you?” Michael asked as they walked to the backdoor.
“No. I’ll take Callum and Alice.”
Michael nodded. “Good.”
Callum was level-headed, would keep Isaac from making any rash decisions, and from what Sam had told him, Alice was deadly in a fight.
I really fucking hope it doesn’t come to that.
“All right?” Isaac had a hand on the door handle, giving him a curious look.
“Yeah. Let’s go inside.”
* * *
“Doyou really think that’s a good idea?” Isaac asked, looking at the spot on the map that Logan had his finger on.
Carnglaze.
“The HRU are aware it was used by the CEG,” Isaac pointed out. “It’s not the safe place it used to be.”
“I checked with Jacob,” Logan replied, and when Michael looked at him, eyebrows raised in question, he shrugged. “Turns out I had my CEG phone after all. Anyway, Jacob said it was one of the first places they looked after we escaped. Nothing was found so it’s no longer of interest to them. It’s remote, but accessible enough for everyone to get to, and has multiple exits if we need them. It’s perfect.”
“I wouldn’t go that far,” Michael muttered, but it was definitely something to consider.
“I agree with Logan,” Cole said. “We already know the entry and exit points, and it’s no longer in use. Where else can you find somewhere that’s as remote and deserted in, what, less than two days?”
Fuck, it made sense when he put it like that, and Isaac knew from the look on Michael’s face that he thought so too. “They could well have patrols out on the main roads.”
“They could,” Michael agreed. “But that goes for anywhere we choose. At this juncture, any move we make will have its risks.” He gave Isaac a pointed look.
Touché.
“Who’re you taking with you?” Isaac asked instead.
“Cole, Smith, Sam, and Nick.” Michael nodded to Logan and Aaron. “I think taking any more would be too big of a risk. Besides, we could do with someone back here to coordinate things. I’m guessing the signal isn’t all that great in the caves.”
Aaron shook his head. “It’s not the best, no.”
“Right,” Isaac said, sitting back in his chair. “That’s yours sorted. Where the hell am I going to meet up with ten alphas and keep it a secret?”
Michael leant back over the map, gaze intent. He ran his finger over the border separating the London packs from the rest of the country. “I’d be happier if you could stay as close to the border territories as possible. Less risk of running into any unfriendly packs.”
“What about Richmond?” Cole asked. “The Davidson pack is one of the alphas you’re meeting, so that would make sense, right?”
“Isn’t that where you used to live?” Michael asked.
“Yes. But it’s also on the outskirts, and from what my parents insinuated, I think there’s a fair few human CEG and resistance members located there. Maybe it’d be wiser to ask them if they can suggest somewhere to meet. They’ll know the area far better than we do.”
Isaac glanced at Michael. “Well?”
Michael sighed. “I guess it couldn’t hurt. If all goes to plan, we’ll all be working together soon enough, so might as well start now. I’ll make a call.” He stood and left to go outside again.
Isaac wanted to follow him but remained seated when Alice and Callum appeared at the kitchen door. “Good, you’re here. Sit and I’ll fill you in.”
He brought them up to speed on everything that had been discussed, neither of them seeming surprised or concerned by the prospect of going into London. But Isaac had to make sure. He could order them to accompany him, but he’d never been the sort of alpha to command someone against their will, and he didn’t want to start now. Especially with something so potentially risky.
“I’d like the two of you to accompany me to London, but I won’t order you to do so.” They both went to speak, but Isaac held up a hand, stopping them. “I’ve detailed the risks involved, and I want you to consider everything before giving me your answer. If you don’t want to do it, you don’t have to. There will be no comeback.”
