I can’t let him go.

Not yet.

Isaac let out a shuddering breath, heart racing.

Michael cocked his head, eyebrows scrunched together. “Isaac?” He yawned suddenly, jaw cracking, and a wave of protectiveness washed over Isaac, eclipsing everything else.

“You need to sleep.” He lessened his grip on Michael’s hair, fingers massaging instead of holding on tight.

Michael’s groan, as he leant into the touch, went straight to Isaac’s cock, but Isaac ignored it. “Come on.”

With a sigh, Michael lifted his head and gently extracted Isaac’s fingers from his hair. In silence, he followed Isaac back along the hallway to the main staircase.

There were plenty of guest rooms on the second floor, but Isaac bypassed them all, heading for the top floor instead. The rooms on this floor had been knocked through to make an open-plan apartment.

His apartment.

Isaac paused outside the door and Michael inhaled, eyes going wide.

“This is yours.”

“It is.” Isaac unlocked the door and stepped back to allow Michael to enter.

Instead of going inside, Michael faced him. “You said we can’t go back to what we were.”

“And we can’t.”

“Then what? I’m too fucking old for games, Isaac.”

“I’m not playing games, and you’re not old.”

Michael scoffed, and Isaac blew out a breath, frustrated at himself for not having the words to explain this better. “We might be different people, Michael, but the fact is...” He backed Michael into the door, caging him with his arms, and ran his nose up the column of his throat, inhaling the strong scent that would always feel like home. “You’re still mine.”

Michael sucked in a breath, eyes so dark now that Isaac lost himself in their depths.

“If you want to be,” he added softly, heart skipping a beat as he waited for the answer.

“Yes.” Michael grabbed Isaac’s waist and pulled him close, their bodies aligned chest to hip for the first time in forever, and Michael buried his head in the crook of Isaac’s neck. “Always, yes.”

Isaac’s wolf preened, primal energy dancing beneath his skin, and he pressed forward, a low growl escaping as his cock rubbed against Michael’s.

“Too many clothes.” Isaac slid a finger along the neck of Michael’s T-shirt, tempted to rip it off, but Michael stayed his hand.

“We should talk before we go any further.”

“I’m done talking.”

He gave in and ripped the material down the middle, exposing the scattering of dark hair covering a solid chest. It was leaner than he remembered, the muscles defined in a way that made his mouth water, but his heart ached at the time they’d missed.

“This won’t go away, Isaac.” Even as he spoke, he tipped his head back, inviting Isaac to take what he wanted. “Our problems will still be there come morning.”

“It’s already morning,” Isaac murmured, nipping the skin at the base of his throat and making Michael groan.

“You know what I mean.” It seemed to take Herculean effort for Michael to grip Isaac’s jaw and lift his head to face him. “Sex won’t fix anything.”

“Maybe, maybe not,” Isaac said carefully, keeping eye contact as he spoke. “But I’ve imagined this moment every day since I left you in London, imagined what it would be like to have you in my arms again.” His gaze dropped to Michael’s mouth, and he licked his lips. “To kiss you.”

The heavy scent of arousal thickened the air between them and Isaac shuddered, want and need flooding his body until he practically vibrated with it.
