Paul’s head whipped round to stare at him. “What makes you ask?”
“Because your scent is different to how I remember Logan’s and Aaron’s.”
“Not that it’s any of your business, but yes. He’s bitten my whole team.”
If that included Simon, Isaac could imagine how much he would’ve hated that. It brought a smile to his face.
Paul gave him a strange look but went back to searching through Isaac’s wardrobe.

Sunset arrivedas Paul finished up in Isaac’s rooms.
Isaac cracked his neck and shoulders, stiff from doing nothing but watch Paul work for the last few hours. “You done?” He asked, already knowing the answer.
Paul frowned as he took one last glance around. “Yeah.”
“You look disappointed,” Isaac said, daring Paul to deny it.
“Surprised.”
Not what Isaac was expecting him to say. “You thought you’d find something?”
Paul leant against the wall opposite. “If not here, then somewhere else, yes. But I haven’t heard from any of my team to say they’ve discovered anything either.”
Isaac shrugged. “Because there’s nothing to find.”
Paul met his gaze and held it long enough to make others uncomfortable, but Isaac didn’t so much as blink. “I know they came here, Isaac. I might not have found anything yet, but every instinct I possess tells me that this is the fucking place.”
“You won’t find anything.” Isaac offered, voice steady.
A range of emotions flashed through Paul’s eyes before he settled on resigned. “For you and your pack’s sake, I fucking hope not.”
They met the rest of the HRU team on the second floor, the ones from outside had joined them, and they’d almost finished searching all the guest rooms on that floor.
A few of them yawned, all of them looked knackered, and with a sinking feeling, Isaac knew what Paul was going to ask him.
“With your permission, we’d like to use your guest rooms on this floor for the night. We’ll reconvene in the morning to search the rest of the house.”
“Of course.” It wasn’t as though he had much of a choice. “There are more rooms on the first floor if you want?”
Paul barked out a laugh. “Nice try, but we’ll stick to the ones we’ve already searched. We have no problem sharing.”
“Fine.” Isaac sighed and hoped he’d left Michael and the others enough supplies to last till tomorrow because they weren’t getting anything else tonight. And what the fuck was he going to feed sixteen hungry shifters?
“Dinner will be ready in an hour or so. Feel free to freshen up in your rooms before then.”
“Thank you. We’ll go get our bags from the cars.”
Isaac, Alice, and Callum stood to the side, allowing Paul and his men to go down the stairs first. Clearly, they’d set out with every intention of staying over. He wondered if that was another tactic they used. Did they wait until everyone was asleep and have a look around on their own?
It’s what I’d do.
“Alice,” he said, gesturing to the stairs. “Go with them and make sure they find their way back to the rooms, okay?”And don’t go wandering off,he didn’t say, but Alice would understand.
“Yes, Alpha.” Alice jogged down the stairs and out of sight.
“What about me?” Callum asked, and Isaac grinned.
