“Why would I care what you spend on your people?” she huffed.
He seemed to think about it for a moment, and then he nodded. “Half, then. You may spend half however you want. I spend the other.”
Aaron folded his arms. “And then she will be impoverished by the year’s end.”
Liam arched his brows. “Or she will have built a life here that she can be proud of.” He looked back to her. “The other choice is that you go back to London, and I have all your money to spend as I wish. You will have nothing but an empty existence in your brother’s shadow while you wonder if you could have accomplished something special here.”
“Here inScotland.”It was the last of her arguments. She resented the fact that against her will, she was now trapped here.
“Here in Scotland,” he echoed, “where there is opportunity for a clever woman to make a difference.”
He wasn’t wrong, and somehow, he had fired her up for the challenge. She lifted her chin and struck her bargain.
