Hendrix answers on the first ring. “Hey, beautiful. I was just thinking about you and was picking up my phone to call you.”

I smile. “Sorry I haven’t called sooner. How is your shift so far?”

“It’s a quiet night at the ER, but don’t repeat that or we’ll jinx it. How have you felt today?”

“Um…not sure how to answer. I’m fine, but I’ve been at Lennon’s house today.”

“You…what?” he asks in a surprised tone.

“I’m still here actually, but I’ll probably go back to the apartment to sleep. Something happened.”

“What, London? You’re scaring me.”

I close my eyes at the sound of him calling me London because tonight, it doesn’t feel right.

“Someone broke into the house while I was here alone,” I start.

“You were alone? Why the hell were you alone?”

“I told Dash to give me a few hours by myself here. But I found hidden notes, well, they were threats in the closet. And then, someone sent a text to me saying they know who I really am. I think it’s because they caused the wreck and knew exactly who we were by our necklaces, and I think he or she stole them after the crash.”

“I’m coming to you now. Don’t go anywhere,” he snaps.

“No, finish your shift. Like I said, I’m going back to the apartment to sleep since it seems this person was much closer to Lennon than London. Did London say anything to you about feeling uneasy or that Lennon did?” I ask.

“No, nothing.”

I don’t tell him about my joy ride and certainly not about my feelings for Dash or what we did tonight.

“Dash is talking to his police officer friend right now to update him. I’m sure I’ll be questioned tomorrow. But don’t worry, I’ll go back to the apartment shortly. Dash will stay so I’m not alone.”

“Of course he will,” he mumbles.

“Hendrix,” I start.

“We don’t know for sure who you are yet. Don’t push me away, please. He’s not the only one with his heart at stake.”

I squeeze my eyes shut again.

“I know. But you’re forgetting something. I care about both of you. I have an intense connection with each of you. So, no matter which of your hearts gets broken, mine will break with it, and I wish it didn’t have to happen to any of us.”

Pain rips through the left side of my body as I try to see my sister. “Hold my hand.”

I hear something at my side, and I shift to find out what it is. I attempt to raise my left arm, and I can’t. I blink but I can’t see anything except a gloved hand come toward me and then everything is black.

“London!” A shout jars me from what I was seeing in my sleep.

Dash sits up from beside me as we both meet Hendrix’s angry stare.

“Hendrix, wh-what are you doing?” I ask, still disoriented from what I was dreaming.

His stare bores into mine, but he remains silent as he clenches and unclenches his fist at his side.

“Say something,” I plead.

Dash starts to get out of the bed and Hendrix focuses on Dash’s bare chest and then travels to his boxers. He doesn’t say anything, he just turns and leaves the bedroom. I jump out of bed as quickly as I can while the pain I’ve unfortunately becomeaccustomed to screams in protest and chase after him, even though I’m not very fast and still limping.
