“What was what?”

“That–you said ‘yep’ weird.”

“No, I didn’t.”

“You fuckin’did! What aren’t you telling me?”

“Nothing,” I insist.

“No … it’ssomething. You’ve been smiling like you’ve got a secret all day.” He scrubs at the scruff along his jaw thoughtfully. “Come to think of it you’ve been smiling a lot lately. It’s strange, dude.”

“Me smiling is strange?” I know it is, but I still don’t love being called out on it.

“Hell yeah, it is! Luke almost walked into a wall last week when he came into the bullpen and caught you grinning down at your phone. No doubt it was Lucy who was texting you.”

I roll my eyes. Then I sigh. I hadn’t actually wanted to get into this with Aidan, but … maybe another male perspective would be a good idea.

“We had sex,” I tell him.

“Yeah, I know, you made a baby,” he says sarcastically.

“No … I mean we had sex last week.”

“No shit?!” He pulls his gaze from the road to give me a quick once-over, obviously checking to see if I’m kidding.

“And then again three more times since,” I admit.

“Woooah,” he says slowly. “I didn’t see that coming. I thought you guys had some unspoken agreement to keep things platonic for the sake of the kid?”

“We did … and then we had an unspoken agreement to be more.”

“More?”

“Yeah, we’re …togethernow. I think.”

“Wait a minute …unspoken? Youthink?”

I just nod, keeping silent.

“That’s not like you, Noah …” he says, shooting me a concerned look. “Are you feeling okay?”

“I feel fine. Better than okay–I feel pretty amazing, actually.”

“Ohhhh, shit,” he smirks.

“What?”

“You’ve got it bad.”

I sigh again. “I know. I think … I think I might be falling in love.”

Aidan lets out a harsh breath and then rubs his hand over his mouth thoughtfully.

“Wow,” he says. “But you haven’t talked about anything? Defined the relationship?”

“Nope. But we’ve been behaving like a couple since before we even had sex.”

“Wow.”
