“I’m here because you promised me the throne once you get rid of him.”
I scoff. “Sure.That’swhy you’re committing treason.”
Zale grabs my arm, fear flashing in his eyes. “She can’t know, Dean.”
I jerk my arm out of his grip. “I’m not lying to my mate. She deserves to know.”
“It’ll kill her. She thinks our mother sold her, but if she finds out what he—” He swallows, choking on the words.
I understand where he’s coming from, but Hazel deserves the truth. She’s spent too many years believing the lies Tiberius fed her. It’s time she finds out who she really is and what really happened all those years ago.
“We don’t get to make that decision, Zale. She deserves the truth, deserves to be the one that kills his finned ass for what he did to her family… and that includesyou.”
Zale closes his eyes, sighing in defeat. “For someone mated to a siren, you’re very disrespectful to our kind.”
“You can thank Tiberius for that.”
Nevaeh drops before Anxo, grabbing his face and nuzzling the tip of his nose. “Told you it would work. Men like him will always believe a woman would beg on her knees to save herself.”
Tiberius roars, his dark blue Divine that looks muddied black, lashing out and slamming against Anxo’s invisible barrier, failing to break free.
At this point, it doesn’t matter if he breaks free. We only wanted to keep him occupied until Hazel and her group were ready.
Even if he escapes now, he’ll be surrounded by an army of demons ready to tear him apart limb from limb.
The dome trembles under his rage, echoing through the whole kingdom, letting them know what we’ve done, but he doesn’t know he’s only invited the person who can’t wait to spill his blood.
Before he can open his mouth again, a roaring blast shakes the ground, shockwaves tearing through the dome above.
The cavalry has arrived.
37. A crack in the glass
Hazel
Awar cry erupts behind me before an army of demons, centaurs, and dragons charges ahead in an unstoppable wave.
I take point. The terrain is more familiar to me than anyone else, and though it gives me an advantage, it’s hard to push past the memories clawing at me.
I move through smoke and fire, blade steady in my grip, blood roaring in my ears.
While the others kept Tiberius distracted, Jackson tore down the kingdoms’ defenses, clearing the way for us to storm in.
We had to be careful because we knew it would be hard to manipulate a trickster, but I’m glad we outplayed him.
Rage burns through me, thick and suffocating. The urge to be as far as possible from this kingdom chokes me, but I can’t leave. There’s too much unfinished business.
Tiberius needs to die tonight, along with anyone standing by him.
This kingdom needs a good purging. Burn it all to ash and start over.
If Anxo weren’t so against it, I’d level this fucking place. I’d probably be doing the entire supernatural world a favor anyway.
I knew the second they heard the blast, the entire kingdom would know we’re here, but what comes next surprises me.
I expected warriors charging at us from the opposite side, but not this many.
Eldoris has grown. By a lot.
