This castle honors their centuries of loyalty to our bloodline. These horses are more than our partners in crime. They’re immortal witnesses to everything we’ve lived and more.

“The Horsemen castle was originally meant to be our shared office, but I promise it feels like home.” Angel pulls mecloser with a soft smile.

My heart aches when I realize this is why Angel never called Conquer or Death our home… because this place is.

“Your dad wanted me to stay here until I was ready to live in the Conquer castle, but after all these years, this just became home.”

Seiji butts in, “Well, Anxo needed a place to stay. I just wanted to get away from my amazing but over-loving mother.”

Grace chuckles and joins Hazel in pushing open the heavy doors. I’m shocked by the modern interior. It looks similar to the hotel we stayed in, but with a touch of royal elegance in every detail.

My eyes almost pop out of my head when I take a closer look at the walls and realize they aren’t ordinary. Even the floors are made of polished diamonds.

Actual diamonds!

I get that we are filthy rich, but diamond flooring? Seriously?

“So the private rooms are on the first floor, the gym and movie theater on this floor, and finally the conference room on the second,” Angel adds casually while my head spins.

Angel walks to the couch, grabs a blanket, and gently drapes it over August. The guy occasionally pokes his head out of Angel’s neck to look around, but he’s been half asleep since the tour started.

“Come on, sweetheart. One last thing to show you and Harvey before we can call it a night.”

I trail after him without a peep because I’m looking forward to lying down after walking all day.

Hazel strides ahead and flings open a set of doors. I look to my left, and it’s only a large, empty room. Sure, it’s decked with jewels and has a dazzling crystal roof, but at this point, I’ve seen enough of that to last me a lifetime.

Harvey smacks the back of my head, and I turn to shoot him a glare. With a sigh, he grabs my cheeks and turns my face to my right.

Oh…oh.

It’s a throne room.Ourthrone room.

Glowing stairs lead to an enchanted platform where four exquisite thrones sit in a straight line. Each pendant matches the color of our rings, with lifelike sculptures of our horses standing proudly behind them.

The thought slips out before I can filter it. “All those jewels look like they’d poke your ass the second you sit down.”

Seiji bursts into laughter, and Angel quickly covers August’s ears to keep him from getting startled while his shoulders shake from stifling his own laugh.

Grace yawns, and Seiji wastes no time teasing her about rough, sleepless nights, making Grace hide her face in Harvey’s chest.

Before Harvey can attack Seiji, Angel interrupts the fun. “Alright, everyone. It’s been a long day; get some rest. We’ll have to entertain the entire kingdom tomorrow. They’re eager to meet our newcomers.” Angel turns to walk away, but then turns back with a goofy smile. “Grace, mind showing Harvey his room.”

“Oryourroom.” Seiji wiggles his eyebrows, but Harvey shuts him up with a murderous glare.

Once everyone says good night, we all exit the room, and I offer to shut the door behind me. I guessed it right. I won’t need any exercise if I do nothing but push these giant-ass doors twice a day.

“August? You sure you want to sleep in your room tonight?” He nods sleepily, but I know he’s confident. The kid was over the moon when Angel asked him if he wanted his own room.

I’m a little nervous about leaving him alone in a new place, but Angel eases my worries by showing me that August’s room is directly across from Angel’s—ourroom.

Now I’ll be able to hear if Monkey calls for me, and the poor guy won’t have to deal with my nightmares.

A win-win, I guess.
