Harvey raises his brow at me, and I shake my head with a scoff.

“Speaking of finding things…” Harvey narrows his eyes at Angel. I feel Angel shift behind me when Harvey directs all his fury and irritation at him. “Who the fuck are you trying to keep out, man? Fucking aliens? I’ve been running in circles for two years trying to find a single portal and never found shit. I’m thePrince of War, for Fate’s sake!”

Angel chuckles nervously, scratching the back of his head. He sighs when, once again, no one steps in to save him from being the bearer of bad news.Poor guy.

His eyes reflect a whole world of unspoken apologies. “Sorry, brother. After what happened with you two… protecting the kingdom became the top priority. I agree the previous leaders went a little too far by shifting realms, but—”

Suddenly, Hazel throws her tablet on the table with alow growl, saving Angel from getting his ass chewed by the physical embodiment of war.

“Witches and their braindead puppets are here.” That sentence is enough to make us spring to our feet. “A dozen by the east exit and more at the back. Looks like more covens have joined Visha,” she adds, her fingers furiously tapping on the screen.

I was hoping I wouldn’t have to ruin my dress with blood, but I guess you can’t fight destiny.

Grace thinks for a second before turning to my mate. “Anxo, if they get in here, we can’t be sure how many of these mellow party animals might turn on us given the opportunity.”

“I agree,” Hazel chimes in. “Horsemen don’t exactly have a shortage of people who’d happily rally behind the witches. We need to nip this in the bud outside and get the fuck out of here.”

That’s one of the biggest risks of being in the human realm. With mythics lingering around every corner, you never know who’s waiting for the perfect moment to strike.

Angel sighs, throwing his head back. “Lately, it feels like we’re gaining enemies by the day.”

“Probably my fault.” Harvey and I say in unison, which makes Angel shake his head with a smile before pulling me into his side.

I clap my hands together to get everyone’s attention. “Okay, I have a plan.”

“What are you proposing now, Lucifer spawn?” Seiji groans like he already knows where this is going. He’s probably just pissed about ruining his outfit.

“Uncle Elijah is mygodfather, so technically not his spawn. Anyway, here’s the plan—” I’m just getting to the best part of my brilliant idea when the sounds of immature whispering stop me.

“I bet five hundred rubies that ‘plan’ is code for violence,” Angel laughs. Seiji joins him immediately, sure there’ll be blood involved, but Harvey clicks his tongue at them, shaking his head in disappointment.

At least someone has faith in me.

“Amateurs… It’salwaysblood and guts with her.” Harvey snickers.

I take it back. Harvey can go fuck himself.

Why does everyone think I’m a psycho killer? I’m fucking adorable.

Fine, then, it’s time for a new list.

1. Papa

2. My little Monkey

3. Angel

4. Grace, Hazel, and Seiji

5. Harvey (congrats on the demotion, dumbass)

I focus on the ladies since they’re the only ones genuinely interested in getting things done, and ignore our stupid men who are still giggling and whispering like teenagers.

“So, listen up… Angel, Hazel, and I will handle the ones at the back while Rick and Seiji tackle the ones on the east exit.” Once everyone nods in approval, I continue. “Grace, I want you to stay here with Harvey and make sure no one follows us outside. Fill him in on everything he’s missed in the meantime.”

That’s right. Say hello to your friendly neighborhood cupid.

Hazel’s forehead creases, and she opens her big mouth to protest, but I shake my head subtly before she can ruin the plan. Everyone takes the hint, murmurs of agreement ringing around me.
