My gasp allows him to slide his hot tongue into my mouth, teasing and tasting me feverishly. I can’t stop a moan from escaping that Anxo captures before the world hears it.

When Angel pulls back, I whine in protest, “More please.”

His raspy chuckle is cut short when I grab his face and smash our lips together again. Fisting his hair, I tug him closer, his addictive taste making it impossible to stay away.

Angel traces the shape of my jaw with a feather touch that makes me shiver. When his palm wraps around my throat like a necklace and squeezes the sides, I lose the last thread of my control. Arching my back, I moan as his other hand finds my lower back to press me tighter against his chiseled abdomen.

We both separate at the same time to breathe, but Angel hates the idea. With an impatient groan, his head follows me, attacking my lips passionately. Every stroke of his tongue, every bite on my lips, every squeeze on my neck spreads another tingle from my head to my toes.

We stay like that for a long time, kissing like it’s our last day and drowning in our newfound intimacy. I memorize his every touch, every sound, every trace of his finger, and where they linger the most as the rain slows down.

Angel reluctantly moves away, but not before pecking me a couple more times. His forehead rests on mine as we pant heavily, trying to catch our breath.

My heartbeat thumps in my head, and after a few tattered breaths, I open my eyes only for my heart to skip a beat when I see his eyes glowing. A ring of gold dances around his emerald orbs, resembling the sun, trying to peek around the ashy clouds to steal glances at the majestic rain.

When I go to point it out, the glow dims away until his mesmerizing green is back. This proves no matter how much I try to shove my Divine in a corner, it will find a way to connect to Angel, its other half.

“I’ve wanted to do that for so long,” Angel rasp softly, as if afraid to break the delicacy of the moment.

“I’ve been waiting, too.”

He smirks devilishly with those perfect pink lips, brushing a strand of my hair back with the hand that was wrapped around my throat a minute ago. The flickering thought has me turning bright red, but fortunately, I’m already red in the face.

“Come on, let’s get you home before you catch a cold—and before you mention being a superior species and recovering faster, I don’t want to see you sick at all.”

Damn, how did he know I was going to play the Divine card?

Gently dragging me to the passenger side, he opens the door, but I turn back to him with a sad pout.

I don’t want to get in the car and go back to how it was. I want more than what we had before. I don’t want to move on from this. From us.

A kiss on my nose softens me, and Angel grips my chin with his index finger to make me look at him instead of his shoes. “Nothing will change if you get in, baby. I promise to kiss you every day, all day, for the rest of my life.” He kisses me again and takes his time to prove this doesn’t end here. That is not a onetime thing.

Taking his warm face between my cold palms, I return his kiss with equal fervor and softness before letting him usher me inside the car. Our smile stay stuck the entire ride back to the hotel, and we keep glancing at each other and giggling like teenagers. Angel doesn’t move his hand from my thigh, and I lace my finger with him so he can’t even if he wants to.

I used to think that after all I’ve lost, it’s easier for me to start over and expect the worst, but after tonight, I know that if I ever lose Angel, I won’t survive.

CHAPTER 13

My virgin eyes!

Nevaeh

It’s been two months since Angel kissed me in the pouring rain for the first time. He didn’t lie when he promised the kisses wouldn’t stop. He kisses me all the time now, whether in passing or throughout the nights we spend cuddling in his room or when he feels like it.

Life has been good.

That night, we returned to the hotel looking like drenched rats and smiling like two lovesick idiots. The group caught one glance at our flaming red cheeks and intertwined hands, and it’s safe to say we have been teased nonstop ever since.

Seiji keeps making kissing sounds every time he sees us together. Hazel even made a short film aboutsafe sex, only for me to run away within the first two minutes. Whatever gruesome shit that was, I wasn’t doing that with anyone, ever.

Thankfully, Seiji assured me that the siren was only messing with me, and that’snothow sex works. I will remember this when she asks me for help with anything.

“I don’t think we’ll need any backup,” Angel thinks out loud, and it brings me back to the present.

“Look at themuscleson this man!” Seiji shrieks like a fucking banshee.Again.

“We can’t risk exposing that the Horsemen are in the human realm. Too many will think it’s the perfect opportunity to corner us,” Grace warns.
