I knew I told Poseidon that I could handle the whole civilized thing, but the sight of this bitch nigga did something to my spirit.Fuck it!When he was close enough, my fist connected with the center of his face. The cracking sound his nose made was satisfying.

“Oh my God! Why would you do that?” Angela screamed. Tears immediately sprung from her eyes.

One thing I respected about Lawrence was that he wasn’t a punk. A bitch, yes, but not a punk. It took him a second to regain his composure before he stood and swung at me. The hit to his face clearly fucked up his equilibrium. His punch was in slow motion, but mine was on two times speed when it connected to his face for a second time.

When he dropped, I leaned over him. “You like putting your hands on women, lil bitch? Put those same hands on me, ho ass nigga.”

“What are you talking about? Leave him alone, Alexander.” Hades held Angela back, who cried harder than Ricky’s mama after he got shot.

I turned to face her. “Your man didn’t tell you that he beat Melanie’s ass? She’s at the hospital now with internal bleeding. More than likely, she’ll have to have surgery. I imagine you don’t give a fuck since you’re in here with him.”

“Law . . . Lawrence, what are they talking about? Did you do that?” she asked him in almost a whisper.

His bitch ass was rolling side to side like I’d given him body shots or something. This was tragic. As bad as I wanted to slaughter this man, it wouldn’t even be enjoyable.

“Man, fuck her. While she’s telling what I did, did she tell you that Samson wasn’t my son? Yeah, that bitch cheated on me and had a baby by the next man!” Lawrence’s voice held hurt, but I didn’t give a damn in the moment.

I kicked him in his stomach. “Nigga, you think I give a fuck about all that! I don’t give a fuck if none of those kids were yours. You’re a fuckin’ man. That’s what divorce is for, pussy.”

“How you even find out that boy wasn’t yours?” Hades asked. He glanced down at Angela who was in front of him. “I bet it was your traitor ass. You started fucking your best friend’s man, so that gave you the freedom to tell her secrets.”

She shook her head. “I just told him that he should consider getting the baby tested. I didn’t tell him so that he could beat her up. I never wanted that to happen,” she said through tears.

“I don’t give a fuck about none of that shit.” I lifted my foot and brought it down. “Nigga, if you ever touch her again, I will kill your bitch ass.” I leaned down so that he could clearly see my face. “Do we have an understanding?” After he nodded, I gave him one more hit to put his ass to sleep.

I was done here. Angela rushed to his side with all her whore tears. The whole debacle of Melanie cheating and Lawrence not being the father of their youngest had nothing to do with me. That shit was fucked up if it were true. Again, that shit didn’t have anything to do with me. I was here to protect Melanie, for the sake of our daughter only.

A Short Time Later

Changes Made . . .

Life was one of the most temperamental bitches that I knew. It did what it wanted to do regardless of how you felt about it. In my mind, I thought the ordeal with Melanie would not have a major effect on my life, but at last, it did.

When we got to the hospital after I paid Melanie’s bitch ass husband a visit, Hestia told us that she did have surgery. The doctors said that with the extent of the injuries, they weresurprised that she lasted long enough for my baby to get to her so that she could get medical attention. Several hours of surgery was needed and an almost month stay in the hospital.

When Melanie was finally able to speak with the police, I didn’t think that she would tell them the truth about what happened. The girls must have spoken to her beforehand. Not only did Melanie tell the police what happened, but she provided home video footage of the incident.

The irony of it all was that when the police went to arrest Lawrence on the charge of family violence aggravated battery, they didn’t have to go far. His ass was already a patient at the hospital for injuries he sustained during a robbery. A damn shame that whoever fucked him up broke his rib, nose, and the frontal bone of his eye socket.

The courts didn’t take nicely to domestic violence and gave him a high bond. Like the dummy she was, Angela bailed his ass out. Now we were waiting for the court date. A restraining order was served as well.

It was hard as hell when we broke the news to Eloise. She wanted to be near her mother, like I knew she would. What I didn’t expect was for my mother to suggest that Melanie move to Charlotte so that she could be closer to our daughter. I argued that she was fine at her mother’s house. My mother countered that as long as Eloise was worried about her mother’s safety, she would be distracted in other areas of her life.

When I talked to Hestia about it, I knew that her ass would agree with me in the thought that Melanie was fine at her mother’s house. Well, damn my woman and her soft ass heart. Not only did she agree with my mother, but she used her connections to help get Melanie a job, childcare, and a damn apartment. I learned just how women on a mission could pull shit together in less than a month. I would be annoyed if Eloise wasn’t so happy to have her mother and brothers close.

“Bread, I don’t know how the fuck you were able to get this sponsorship. Thank you, brother,” AJ said before he dapped me.

We just completed our monthly meeting at theKOKs’clubhouse. Every year, we held a gala to support an organization that focused on teaching music to underprivileged children. It was the same organization that Dindi’s mother worked with when she was alive. I was able to secureWashington-Smith Brokerage FirmandLeota Fitness and Fightas a sponsor this year at the platinum level.

The platinum level sponsors donated $10,000 to the event. This was the first year that we had this level of sponsorship. “Man, no thank you needed. It’s for a good ass cause, so they didn’t think twice.”

The 501c3 arm of our bike club threw the gala, technically. Before I came along, this chapter didn’t have a non-profit arm, but they still held this gala annually. Once we officially started the non-profit, the event elevated.

“This year is going to be amazing. Oh, my baby said thank you for suggesting that investment property. She just got her first booking from someone who wanted to use it for a girls’ weekend,” he told me.

I smiled because I knew that property would be gold for her. Lake Wylie was a gem that a lot of people overlooked. I owned a rental home there myself that gave me great income during the late spring, summer, and early fall.

“That’s what’s up. Aye, how do you think theKittiesare going to take it when they find out that they are going to be disbanded and not recognized? I was surprised like hell to see that on the meeting agenda,” I confessed.
