“Blood makes such a wonderful lubricant don’t you think?” Her next thrust with the knife was a sharp jab. A jab straight between my legs.
Any bravery I had evaporated as I started to scream.
There was nothing but pain and the sound of me screaming as she went to work with her knife
“Scream all you like, Dani. Because when I’m done with you, I’m going to slit your throat.”

Fang
I looked downat the note in my hand for the hundredth time and frowned. Screwing it up, I tossed it into the corner of the room. I didn’t believe a word it said. I wouldn’t have even if Giovanni hadn’t passed me the file on Gypsy's crazy ex-fiancé and his equally fucked up sister.
It didn’t matter if the note said my sunflower was going home to her father, I knew the truth. Gypsy wouldn’t leave me. The thing between us was volatile as hell, but there were real feelings there. On both sides.
If Gypsy wanted to leave me she would have told me to my face. She wasn’t that much of a coward. Which meant the note in my hand was a fake.
“Someone fucking find her now,” I growled out.
“Fang?” Hansel took a step forward, his eyes beseeching. “If the girl wants to go then you have to let her.”
I didn’t turn to face him. Instead, my eyes bored into Pope. He appeared to shrink but met my gaze unflinchingly. “Are you sure she wrote this?” I waved the offending piece of paper in my hand.
“Yes, I mean it was...” Doubt dawned in his eyes.
And there it was. He wasn’t sure.
I was sure though. Gypsy would not have left without at least saying goodbye. She just wasn’t that cruel.
“I didn’t actually see her go upstairs. Melanie went just before they left for lunch to grab her purse but…fuck… I didn’t even think, Fang. When we got outside, someone had slashed my tyres and…”
“Melanie,” I spat her name out like it was poison. Because that’s exactly what it was.
I knew the moment I laid eyes on her that she wasn’t to be trusted. I should have done something about it. Kept Gypsy, my Gypsy, safe from the madwoman who had been stalking her all these years.
“That bitch is her ex’s half-sister, the one Gypsy has been running from all these years.”
Cyber’s head snapped up from his place on the laptop. His tattooed face creased into a frown. “You mean Pope let your old lady go off with the crazy bitch who…” He trailed off.
Pope’s face paled. He knew he had fucked up big time, and he knew there would be repercussions.
He would take them like a man, I knew that as well. Whatever I dealt out, he would take.
I didn’t have time to think about that though. Punishments would have to wait. My one and only priority was getting Gypsy back before something bad happened to her.
Already I had a feeling I was too late. I could feel it in the pit of my stomach like a chasm had opened up. My eyes drifted to the window. Somewhere out there in the darkness, Gypsy was hurting. She was in pain.
I was sure of it.
I had held her in my arms and told her that I would protect her, and I had failed. Just like I had failed Corinne when she had needed me the most.
Was history about to repeat itself?
Was I about to lose another woman I loved because I wasn’t there for her?
I didn’t know if I was strong enough to go through it again. Gypsy was meant to be my second chance. My last chance at happiness.
I couldn't lose her, not then, not ever.
