There was so much sadness in her eyes it took my breath away. Whatever was going on in her head, it wasn’t good. “I know you, don’t baby, this is new for both of us, but we will get through it. It will work out for the best. You just wait and see.” I meant for the words to be reassuring but the sadness in her eyes didn’t leave.

“Can we go in? You’re right, my back is killing me. I could probably do with a soak in the bath and…”

I didn’t let her finish. Looping my arms around her shoulders I lead her towards the front door. “Of course baby, why don’t you have a nice relaxing bath whilst I run to the clubhouse for an hour?”

She froze. “Havoc…”

“An hour Darcie.” I held up one finger to her like she was a child, “I just need to check in with Fang.”

“Ok.” She sounded disjointed. It was the ride all over again, the distance between us growing by the second.

“Unless you want me to stay for a while? Maybe wash your back?”

If it came to a choice between getting naked with her and facing Fang, she would win hands down.

“Maybe a little while.” Her fingers brushed against my neck, her face raised expectantly. “Just a little while.”

I didn’t need telling twice, lifting her easily I pressed my mouth to hers, walking easily with her wrapped around me towards the front door.

I would have to deal with all the doubt and sadness in her eyes soon but not now. Now all I wanted was for things to be ok between us.

The rest we could work on later.

I ignored her weak protests as I headed up the stairs. There was nothing more important than getting her naked and writhing under me. If I could do that then I knew I could make her see sense.

“Havoc.” She squealed as I let her drop onto the bed with a bounce. I didn’t give her a chance to move though. I crawled over her. Capturing her wrists in my hands, I forced them above her head.

“Havoc, you said you had to go and see Fang.”

“It can wait, he can wait.” I kept my weight from crushing her. “You can’t.”

Slowly I lowered my body, my lips hovering over hers. She wanted me to kiss her. I could see it in her eyes. And I wanted to kiss her just as much, but we needed to talk first.

“I can wait an hour unless you’re lying to me again of course and you plan…”

I didn’t let her finish, I covered her mouth with my hand. “Stop right there. Are you going to stop talking? And listen to me?”

With wide eyes she nodded up at me.

“Good.” I moved my hand.

“Kiss me, Havoc.”

Groaning again I did what she asked, but it was a small kiss. “I said no talking Darcie, can you do as you are told for just a few minutes and stop distracting me?” I caught her hand easily as she reached around me to run it over my ass.

She grinned up at me innocently. “But…”

“No buts, let me talk and then we can do whatever you want ok? Just let me get this out.” Maybe it was the seriousness in my voice. Her lips snapped shut.

“You’re new to this life, new to me. I get that. But there are certain rules Darcie. Rules we might not like but that we have to obey. They are there to keep the club safe, keep our women safe and rule number one is that I can’t discuss club business with you. It’s not me keeping secrets from you or lying to you. It’s just the way it has to be. Do you get what I’m saying?” I searched her face. I needed to make sure she understood. If things were going to go further between us then she would have to understand.

“I understand.”

“Good, because I want you in my life, Darcie. I’ve never wanted any woman as much as I want you. I can’t promise you happiness forever but I can promise right here and now that you are everything I want. Everything I need. I can see a future with you.” I cut her off before she could speak. “I’m not saying I am in love with you, it’s too soon for that and I wouldn’t insult your intelligence by spinning that line but I can see myself falling in love with you. When I look into the future, you are in it. Happy and beautiful and all mine.”

Darcie’s eyes slipped shut and with her eyes closed, she cupped my face in her hands, drawing me down so she could kiss me.
