Wide-eyed, I looked up into Havoc’s unreadable face.

“Keep your damn hands to yourself, brother.” Finally, his eyes swung from me to spear Lucas to the spot. Pushing past the smaller man, Havoc pulled me into his arms, and I relaxed almost instantly, breathing in the smoky smell of leather.

“Are you ok? I knew The Judge couldn’t be trusted.” His words were meant for me, but his eyes never left his younger brother.

Anger and jealousy sparked in the air between them.

“I’m fine. What are you doing here? I thought...” He silenced me with his lips. Right there in the hallway with the guy who I had been engaged to watching on.

Lucas grunted.

Flashing him a grin, Havoc tucked me into his side. “Like I would let you do this alone.”

Staring up at him, I mouthed ‘thank you’ silently and his smile became more genuine.

“I can’t actually believe what I’m seeing.” Lucas’s voice was clipped. He was on his high horse and showed no sign of getting off.

“Believe it.” The Judge’s voice called out from the kitchen. “They are fucking like bunnies, but Darcie’s love of brothers isn’t what we are here to discuss. Shut the damn door, and let’s get this over with.”

“It’s going to be ok, Darcie.” Wrapping his arm around my waist, Havoc kicked the door shut behind him. “After you Lucas. I don’t want your eyes on my woman’s ass.”

Lucas whirled. His hands clenched into fists at his side. “She’s not your fucking woman. She’s mine. It’s time to come clean, Darcie. Stop pretending to be into him to get to me.”

I let Havoc pull me into the kitchen with him and didn’t say a word. It wasn’t until he had pulled me into his lap on the chair I had just vacated that I finally found the right words to speak.

“I’m not pretending, Lucas.” Looping my arm around Havoc’s neck, I hid my face slightly. Letting my hair fall over my eyes. “I like Havoc. I really like Havoc. I’m enjoying being with him.”

In his chair across the table, The Judge leant back. His face was thoughtful. “So you don’t want to go home then? Back to your nice safe life and friends?”

Havoc’s hand squeezed my leg. But I didn’t need to even think about my answer. Mainly because I had been thinking about it a lot recently. “Even if I could go home, I would stay here and get to know Havoc better. If he wanted me to, of course.” I didn’t dare look at him, but I could feel him studying me.

“Like I would let you go,” he mumbled.

“Ok.” The Judge steepled his fingers under his chin. His eyes darted to Lucas. Who had opened his mouth to say something. “Don’t start. She’s made her decision. Not that I blame her for choosing your brother after the mess you got her into.”

I blinked at him in shock. It almost sounded like a compliment.

“I was going to suggest Darcie did a run over to the UK for the family…”

“No!” Havoc almost screamed it. “She’s not doing a run for the damn family. You want something shifting, then I’ll do it for you.”

“Fang will never allow it.”

Finally, Havoc met my eyes. “I don’t care what the club wants. Darcie will have nothing to do with anything like that. This isn’t her problem. My brother owes them money, so it’s a family situation. From now on, you come to me and not her.” His voice was ragged. Full of emotion.

He was protecting me again.

“You want drugs or guns moved? I will do it.”

Lucas brooded silently, but when he spoke, he sounded gloating. “It’s not any of that big brother. It’s diamonds.”

Havoc’s face twisted in disgust.

What was so wrong with diamonds?
