“No.” Frowning, I bent down to capture her lips. “It isn’t that part. The relationship bit was settled the moment you wore my cut.” I reminded her. “Or did you forget?”
“I didn’t forget, I just…” She shrugged, her eyes drifting away from me as she chewed on her bottom lip. “It’s all going really quick.”
I couldn’t argue with that. Things were moving quickly. “Quick isn’t a bad thing, Darcie. A scary thing, but we get on, I like you, and hell, the sex is beyond amazing. So I can’t see anything wrong with quick. Can you?” I arched an eyebrow in her direction—my finger stroking down her cheek.
“And it keeps me safe.”
“That as well.” I agreed. “Hopefully, by the time all of this blows over, you will want to stay for me and not because you have to.” I couldn’t believe I was saying the words. Two weeks ago, I would have laughed at anyone who said I would fall for my brother’s ex-fiancée so quickly and fully.
“You will be bored of me by then, Havoc.”
I shook my head. “I doubt it. I have a sneaky suspicion you’re gonna break my heart, Darcie.” It took a lot for me to admit that to her, and she read it on my face instantly.
“Not on purpose.” One of her small hands trailed down my neck, sending goosebumps erupting across my skin. “Now, do we have anything else to talk about, or can we get to the making out part of the morning?”
“We still need to talk, greedy girl.” Even as I said the words, my lips slid over hers. My tongue tracing the line of her lips. Hers parted instantly under mine. Her tongue was eager and willing in my mouth. “Darcie.” I pulled away breathless. “We need to talk.”
Defeated, she fell back against the pillows. The tip of her pink tongue poked out between her full lips. “You are no fun, Mr Havoc.” She pouted. “What do you need to talk about so urgently?” Her eyes narrowed. “You’re not going to ask me to marry you, are you?”
Laughing, I shook my head, “Not yet, Darcie, but if you’re going to stay here long term, that is something we will need to discuss. We could always head to Vegas.” I was only half teasing.
“Joker.”
Yeah, she thought I was joking. But that was a conversation for a different day. “I want this trouble my brother got you in over and done with, so there may be times that I have to go out of town. I don’t know if you will be safe at mine when I am gone, so you will stay here.”
Her eyes skirted away to glance around the room. “You want me to stay here?” She seemed disgusted by the very idea. “I don’t know how I feel about that. I mean, I don’t know anyone here and..”
I silenced her with my lips. “You didn’t know me, Darcie, but you agreed to be my girlfriend.”
“Pretend girlfriend.”
Kissing the tip of her nose, I grinned. “Not any more, but stop trying to change the subject. You will be perfectly safe here when I am gone. I will introduce you to everyone and have Cyber or one of the boys keep an eye on you.” I thought about it for a second. “Cyber has a soft spot for British girls, so I know he will make sure you are safe.”
“Cyber has a thing for British girls? And you trust him?”
“With my life, he’s closer than a brother, and you don’t have to worry about him trying anything. He had a short fling with an English girl a few years ago. It’s a long story, but if there was ever one that got away, Iris would be her for him. Not to mention he knows I would kill him if he tried anything.”
“These things you need to do, are they illegal?”
It might have been my imagination, but it felt like she was trying to make me stay. “They are things that don’t concern you, Darcie. Men’s business.”
Her face twisted and then closed down completely at my words. “That’s so archaic Havoc. Could you go to prison for doing whatever it is you’re planning on doing?”
Sighing, I moved away from her slightly. “There is always a chance I will end up in prison. Same as everyone in this club.”
“Hmmm.” Huffily she turned away from me, her eyes staring at the wall. “I don’t want you going to prison for me, or ever.”
“And I don’t want you in a mood with me, so I think it’s time I cheered you up.”
“And how are you going to do that?” Her fingers curled into the hair at the back of my neck as I let my lips drift down further.
I didn’t answer her. I just kissed lazily down her body.

“Havoc.” Fang’s voice called out as I tried to lead Darcie from the clubhouse a few hours later. Looking back at her, her hand clenched tightly in mine, I didn’t even bother to hide my sheepish grin.
Looking up at me, Darcie’s eyes sparkled with mischief.
