The asshole laughs at me. "Fine. Let us go to sleep then." I crawl into bed and he crawls in after me. "Sweet dreams Alaceandra."
"Sweet dreams," I whisper.
Chapter fifty-one
A Warning
Alaceandra
My hair is pulled into an intricate bun. I find myself in a soft yellow dress, with golden swirls. I am in the middle of the field that I train on every day with my men. I am once again barefoot, but I am not alone. The shadow of a man stands in my periphery. I cannot make him out. When I turn in his direction he disappears.
"I see your men have quite the silver tongues." That same voice whispers in my ear, causing shivers to invade my body. "If you will not ask Sam what he is doing, I will show you. Follow me."
My feet compel me to walk through the woods, my body controlled by some foreign entity. We travel a small path covered in rock and trees before coming upon a cave.
"Look in here and you will find the answer."
I near the cave until I am right at its mouth. Inside I see two bodies hanging from rope, lifeless. I gasp and back away.
"There has to be more to this. What are you not showing me?"
"I am showing you the truth. Inside this cave hangs two dead men. See how that one bleeds?" The man in my periphery points to the man on the right. "He was tortured by none other than Sam's hands."
"How do I know what you are showing me is real? This could be just some image you made up to scare me."
"If you do not believe me, investigate yourself. I promise you will find the answers you seek and more." Hands push my back towards the opening of the cave, but instead of the men there is only darkness. I am falling.
I jerk up from my bed once again.Another nightmare.I mentally scold myself. Glancing over to the prince I see he is already awake watching me.
"Is everything alright, little dove?"
"Yes, sorry just another bad dream"
"Again?" He sighs. "I never thought I would say this, but where is Baldar? He seemed to keep your nightmares away last night."
"On the couch. He said he did not want to be bothered tonight. Something about your snoring."
"I do not." The prince scrunches his brow. "He would leave you unprotected over a noise complaint?"
I shrug. "I am okay— this dream was shorter and less direct."
"What was it about?"
I hesitate. "He was just showing me around some place. I do not know. It was a lot more surreal than the first. Less words more images."
"Odd. Do you think you will be able to sleep the rest of the night, or would you like to get up now?"
"What time is it?"
"Ptheryeth knows, but I would say you have a couple more hours if you want to try again."
I think about this. "It might be for the best. I can tell it is going to be a long day."
He sighs. "You and me both."
I settle back under the covers and close my eyes. Thankfully, the rest of my night is dreamless.
