I slowly turn my gaze his way and narrow my eyes.
“What?”
“You’re a nasty ass, Chaos.”
“You love me though,” he replies, leaning over for a kiss. I give him exactly what he wants, savoring the taste of me on his lips and tongue.
“I do.”
He returns his attention to the movie, and he’s right; this is nostalgic. It reminds me of being kids with his parents at the drive-in movie theater too. I can’t wait to bring CJ here for the experience one day.
“Hey, why do you think he showed up now? We haven’t heard from him in all this time, and now he calls me.”
“I think he’s been watching and waiting. You’ve been in hiding. He probably saw when you came out.”
“Yeah, but he didn’t reach out to me.”
“He was probably waiting to see if I would come around, checking the scene. Who knows? Besides, he knows that his time is winding down. He might be thinking that your sensitive ass might offer up a plea for his life.”
“Are you going to kill him?”
“I ain’t gon’ lay a hand on that nigga.”
“Then what does that mean, pleading for his life?”
“Don’t worry about it. This moment right here is the last one you’ll ever have to worry about him again.”
“Oh.”
His answer doesn’t really satisfy me, because I know that there’s more to it than that, but I’ll leave it alone for now. I recall his earlier statement about not allowing him to ruin our night.
I’m far enough out in the country that no one else is around except for my target. He fucked up when he called my baby. Geek has software that not only traces Charisma’s location, but it also traces the location of anyone who calls her. Before I returned her phone to her, I had Geek to download the software on her phone. That enabled me to track the senator’s ass down.
I hear the click of the alarm, and a peace settles over me. Lights flick on throughout the house, accompanying the stomp of boots.
The door opens in the room that I’m in, and I watch as he goes to the bar and pours his drink. He takes a long swig and empties the glass before he pours a second one.
“Cherish the taste because that will be your last one,” I comment from the corner as he takes another swallow.
He spins around and chokes on his drink. “How the hell did you get in here?”
“I think it’s a little too late to worry about that.”
“What do you want, Chaos?”
“I’ll pay for my sins, but I think it’s way past time that you pay for yours. Pulling innocent people into your bullshit ain’t cool, my guy. The second you threatened what was mine was the same second that you signed your death certificate.”
“So, what? Are you here to kill me? Put a bullet in my head?” He frowns and rubs his head.
“No. This is the one murder that I won’t be paid a dime for, but I’ll still take satisfaction in it. I’ll walk away from it with clean hands. You’re going to kill yourself.”
“Why would I do that?”
“Because it’s all a part of the plan.”
“I know that you had something to do with my wife’s murder weapon being found and supposedly registered to me.”
“I have no idea what you’re talking about,” I reply smugly.
