Ox is teaching CJ how to shoot pool. The four of us with our arms crossed over our chests all smile and chuckle at the rare innocence that has been brought into the clubhouse.
“What name do you want for her?” Priest asks.
“Venom. Her toxic ass is so bitter against me, and she has stung me enough to be wary of her.”
Everyone leaves the office, and Priest asks, “You sure you’re ready to switch gears?”
“Yeah. I’m sure of it. If not for any other reason than my kid.”
“Cool. That little business we talked about is yours. We’ve been working on it since you’ve been away. We just have to finish some details that you can approve, and you’ll be in business, my G.”
“Thanks, man.” I dap him up.
“Anytime. Make sure you chill the fuck out. You didn’t have to hit that nigga with a boot. He is your VP. I know he wasn’t before you left, but he is now.”
“I didn’t hit him. I could’ve, but I aimed it at the wall to make sure that I didn’t hit him.”
“Yeah, you knew your ass would’ve been in big shit hitting your VP like that.”
“Still don’t know why you chose him. Nigga needs to grow the fuck up.”
“That he does,” Priest states.
I head out of the office, confused as to why I’m protective over Charisma. She doesn’t deserve my loyalty, let alone me beefing with my brothers over her. When I needed her the most, she was all up in another nigga’s face five years ago.
“You ready, li’l G?” I sign.
He nods and beams at me. His hands fly, and I have no idea what he’s saying, but my heart expands and feels warm. I can’t wait to learn how to communicate with my guy, but that will have to wait a while. We’ll have all the time in the world to get to know each other better after I handle business.
CJ holds his tablet up to me as I pull my own out and dial my twin. “You wanna go to The Sweet Spot?” I ask, looking at the picture he has on his tablet.
He nods eagerly. I ask my next question slowly, making sure that he can read my lips.
“How about we stop by the Pizza Barn to pick up lunch for your mama, you, and me first?” I ask, pointing at him and then me.
He nods again.
“Hello?”
“Hey, Chriss. I need a favor.”
“It depends.”
“It’s a matter of life and death.”
“Shoot.”
I head over to meet her at her place so that I can let her know what I want.
“Yes! You bought food. I’m starving. Can I go downstairs to eat? I’m so tired of looking at this room. I swear that I won’t try to run off,” I plead the minute that he walks into the room with two large pizza boxes.
I’m just rambling on from the moment that Chaos steps into the room. I didn’t expect to be as hungry as I am, but I also didn’t think that I wouldn’t see him again until after four in the afternoon.
“Yeah, come on.” He kicks his boots off and jogs back down the steps.
I grab three plates and glasses from his cabinets after I wash my hands.
“What kind do you have?”
