“What are you doing?” I say, trying to wiggle away but he grips me harder. When we make it to the bedroom, he kicks the door closed behind us and tosses me to the bed. I bounce on impact and try to scurry away, but he grabs hold of my feet. Pulling me closer he climbs over me, holding my hands above my head.

“I guess there was a little bit of story time at breakfast this morning.” He lifts a brow and I am just about to ask him what he’s talking about then it hits me.

I smile.

“I see it’s all coming back to you now?”

“Maybe.” I bite my lip.

“I thought we talked about keeping that little story to ourselves.”

“Uh no,” I correct him. “You said we’d keep it to ourselves. Me, on the other hand, I was just waiting for the day I could share.Charlie at the cafe is Charlotte and today when that all clicked I couldn’t wait to share.”

He nods, narrowing his eyes at me.

“I’m just surprised how quickly that ran around our little group. I’m impressed actually.”

“We carry razor wire at the store,” he tells me. “Tory was told to drop one by to me.”

“Impressive, which one of the guys placed the order?”

“It was Kendall,” he says with a very serious face. I burst out laughing and he continues to hold me hostage.

“She is my favorite person ever,” I announce with laughter as tears roll down my face.

“I give it a few hours and I’m sure all the guys will come up with something.”

I know he is not wrong.

“So I’m gonna spend these next few hours reminding you that some things should remain between you and us.”

“I can’t really see how you sexing me silent is a punishment.”

“Oh baby, this isn’t a punishment. This is a tension release.”

CHAPTER THIRTY-EIGHT

Finn

Watchingmy best friend marry the love of his life is yet another life-altering moment. To see the player fall and say he’ll love and cherish only one woman to the end of his time is an incredible thing to witness.

A wife, soon a baby, to add to his little family. Camryn has already made the man a daddy and captured his heart.

“Triggering thoughts for your future?” I glance to my left to find Sophie’s father standing there, staring ahead at Bennett. The old me may have shied away from this situation, maybe laughed it off, but this me, the man that has fallen for Sophie, had plans.

“Definitely,” I say with a smile. “I’m not sure yet, when or how, but I do hope to ask your daughter to marry me. That is if I have your blessing.”

He doesn’t turn to look at me, only continues to watch Bennett and Lexi as they glide around on the floor. Him smiling at her, her smiling at him, it’s beautiful and I don’t know if that makesme soft. But life feels different now. Almost losing my father, me findingthegirl, everything seems to register differently.

“It’s a hard thing for a father to let go. Not knowing if the man she chooses to love is the right man. Hoping he is, and that he cares for her, and loves her the way she deserves to be loved. Will he protect her and provide for her, will he ensure that if anyone ever tried to hurt her they would not only fail but that they would never again attempt to do so?”

His shoulders rise and fall as he takes a deep breath.

“But Finn I’ve watched and I’ve paid attention.” He continues still staring ahead. “The way you weren’t afraid to admit in a room full of her family that you were in love with her.”

“I am, sir.” He finally looks at me. “Very much in love.”

“I see the way she looks at you and you should know that she’s giving you her complete and total trust. Don’t make her regret that.”
