“What?”

“It’s the same couch that you lost your virginity on with Gia when we threw that party after your parents left town.”

“The very same,” I say, wondering where he is going with this.

“Does Sophie know this?”

“It’s not really something I bring up,” I say with a laugh.

“Does she know that when you were a teen you were a bit of a whore?”

“This coming from you is comical. If I’m not mistaken you lost your virginity on my couch too.”

“With Gia.” He nods.

“What?” He starts laughing and turns around walking out of the room. “Are you serious?”

“Jealous?”

“No I’m not jealous you idiot.” I catch up with him in the kitchen. “Couldn’t care less who she sleeps with. But what’s disturbing is that you and I lost our virginity to the same girl.” He says nothing.

“Wait.” It hits me. “You said it was Darla?”

“I got confused.” He chuckles. “She yeah knows.” He makes a gesture with his hand and mouth.

“Dude, you got a blow job and thought that wasthedeal?”

“Well, I know now.” He shrugs and I see movement from the doorway just as Lexi and Sophie step inside. They both freeze and I am about to say something when Bennett continues. “So yeah, I became a man with the same girl you did, but not at the same time. Who cares, we were sixteen. Didn’t think it was something I needed to tell you. But so you know, I am pretty sure Marshall had a go-around with Gia too. Hudson is a small town, and Gia had this thing about virgins. I think she had some goalto de-virginize all of us. I was a whore, but you weren’t a saint either.”

I stare over his shoulder at the girls and watch as they both cross their arms and jut out their hips.

“Gia, Samantha, Jane, Delaney, and there was that one girl that was here visiting that summer. What was her name?” Bennett is completely oblivious.

“Shut up,” I say and he keeps rambling on.

“She had blonde hair, and she was a little older. But you had a thing for her. She came back the next summer too.”

“Ben,” I say louder and he stops, looks at me and then looks back over his shoulder.

“Ah shit,” he mumbles before heading toward Lexi who has already turned around and is walking back to the car.

“That’s a pretty decent list,” Sophie says with an arched brow. “Some of those names I recognize. Gia and Delaney, are they sisters?”

I take a step toward her, trying not to smile. Not because I think any of this is funny but because she is actually jealous over things that happened years ago.

“Gia does my hair,” she adds with annoyance, “and Delaney my pedicures.”

They own the salon in town, the only salon.

“I was a long time ago,” I tell her, placing my hand on her hip. She steps back. “This is great, now I have to find a new hairdresser.”

“No you don’t,” I try again and she takes another step back.

“You really don’t get girls do you?” I’m not sure if this is a trick question so I don’t answer. “There is no way I can go sit in a chair in a salon and not blurt out, so I hear you took my boyfriend’s virginity and your sister was waiting in line for a round of her own.”

“Baby, you don’t have to say a thing.”

“And you are an idiot too.” Sophie spins around and walks out of the house and I chase behind her. She climbs into the passenger seat as Bennett still tries from the driver’s side to backpedal. Lexi won’t even look at him and when Sophie is safely inside she puts the car in reverse.
