I felt silly, and I knew Kai was still working through his feelings about everything, and the whole thing seemed like a mistake the second I said it.
But the idea had popped into my head, and since then, I hadn’t been able to stop thinking about it. I just knew that Kai would look so damn cute and hot, and that we’d laugh our asses off the whole time.
I just knew I wanted it.
Kai’s eyes darted down to the bag. “What’s that?” he asked.
I took his hand. “I bought a costume?” I said, like it was a question. “It was that night I had a third glass of wine over at River and Leo’s. I came home and drunk internet shopped.”
Kai’s eyes got wider. He stared at the bag like there was a loaded gun inside. “What would happen? Would you watch me?” he asked.
I laughed, then leaned forward and kissed his cheek. “No,” I answered. “I’ll show you what I’d do.”
I jumped up, then crossed to the closet. Already, I was turned on, my cheeks warm with the idea.
Even if Kai wasn’t game to dress up right now, I planned to give him a night he’d remember.
I slipped out of my clothes, then tugged on the catsuit. I hadn’t worn a mask in a while, but I figured it was a night to go for broke, so I pulled the pointy cat mask down and slipped it over my eyes.
I turned back to Kai by pouncing on the bed. He laughed, and when he spread his legs open and adjusted himself, I saw that he was hard.
I tilted my eyes up to him. “Want to look in the bag?” I asked, holding my voice just shy of a whimper.
A whimper would be cheating, I knew. And I wanted him to do this because it was something he wanted, not just to please me.
Kai swallowed, then reached into the bag and pulled out the dog costume. It unrolled in his hands, the soft, loose fabric rolling down his legs.
“Hey,” he laughed. “What the hell? You get a sexy bodysuit that clings to you in all the right places, but I get an adult onesie?”
I climbed off the bed and joined him again with a kiss on the cheek. “I told you, three glasses of wine.”
Kai looked down at the dog pajamas. I could see the emotions roiling through his eyes, but I could also feel the heat burning from his body.
He liked it. Just like I did.
“You’ll be really happy if I do this, won’t you?”
I pressed my lips to his ear. “I’ll show you just how happy,” I teased.
Damn, it was so nice to have a boyfriend. Someone I could actually act like this with, safe enough to let my guard down. It was because Kai had done such a good job making me feel affirmed and wanted. I had stopped pausing to doubt myself and slip into my insecurities.
I’d never had that with someone before, and it felt incredible.
Kai pulled his shirt off. “I can’t believe I’m doing this.”
I bounced on the couch. “Thank you!” I sang out, so happy I could burst. “Thank you a million times. You’re the best boyfriend ever.”
Kai stripped down to just his white boxer briefs, then shook out the costume and stepped in. It was light brown, loose on him, with the furry fabric bunching at his feet. A goofy dog head hung off the back like a hood, and a curly tail bounced behind him.
“Yes!” I cheered and jumped onto him, burying my boyfriend in kisses.
With the fronts of our suits undone, we both shoved our hands down, groping each other. Kai looked so damn cute, I would have been happy just standing there and staring at him, with the serious and handsome look on his face and the silly suit hanging from his shoulders.
But touching him was a whole new experience.
I grabbed Kai’s hands and pulled him back to the bed, kissing his neck. When we got there, I fell back, but he stayed standing.
He straightened his back and posed, turning his head to the side with a dignified upward tilt from his chin. “How do I look?”
