He hit my spot, then again. I threw my head back as the world spun. The sensation burning at my base exploded, and when a wet jet of cum landed on my chest, I realized I had hit my climax.
“Oh fuck!” Cass yelled. His cock stretched me wider as he pumped into me. I could feel his cum, wet and warm in my hole, and I shot another jet as my boyfriend hollered my name.
We both groaned and moaned, our voices writing their own song. Cass held my hips carefully as he laid me down and slid out. Immediately, he was up close, holding me in his arms and covering my face and neck with kisses, each one igniting another tremble.
I put my lips up to his ear. “Thank you,” I whispered.
He kissed me again. “I really like anal sex, turns out.”
I blurted a laugh and kissed him back. “Me too.”
Cass rolled to the side and returned with a towel, then cleaned us both up. The night was warm, and we just tugged on our underwear before returning to the pad. For the rest of the evening, we laid around, kissing and drinking wine and listening to nature. And when we were finally exhausted, we headed upstairs to my bed.
Just like boyfriends, I thought as I fell asleep, his body warm against mine.
Like two guys in love.

The next afternoon, I was reading on the couch in the living room after a long morning in bed with Cass when my phone buzzed with Dr. Freeman’s number. Surprised, I sat straight up and answered.
“Shawn, are you busy?”
“Not at all. What can I help you with?”
“I sent those chapters you gave me on to a friend who works in publishing. She has a popular science specialty but has been struggling to find new writers she likes.”
I stood. “Oh?”
“After you turned down the job, I realized you were serious about this project, and the connection came to mind. I’m going to send an email to introduce you to each other. She’s interested in offering you a contract, so make sure you think about what you want for an advance.”
“Wow. Dr. Freeman, I don’t know what to say.” I felt effervescent, bubbles of joy popping as I took the news in. “Thank you so much.”
We talked for a minute more before she let me go, off to another meeting. I stood there, the phone hanging limply in my hand as I took the information in.
My book would be out in the world, and an advance meant I would be able to finish it without needing to get a job. My thoughts flashed back to the offer Cass had made. I hated the idea of him disappearing, even if it was just for a couple of months, and more than that, I hated the idea of him doing something he didn’t actually want to do. No matter how good it felt that he wanted to support me, I wanted to do the same for him.
I shook my head. Those weren’t the kinds of thoughts I needed to have on my own anymore. Instead, I tossed my phone on the coffee table and ran straight back to the studio.
“Babe!” I yelled, then jumped up onto the porch. Cass was standing at the end, a drill hanging from his hand and the sun shining right on him. “I’m going to get a contract!”
He set the drill down. “Excuse me?”
“Dr. Freeman showed the chapters to a friend in publishing! I don’t know the details yet, but she wants to publish it!”
Cass grabbed me around the shoulders and spun me. “That’s amazing! I knew your book was good.” He kissed me, supporting me by the small of my back. “I’m so proud of you, Shawn.”
I stepped back and met his eye. “That means I don’t have to move somewhere for a job, Cass. I can come back to Nashville with you.”
Cass chuckled. “Babe, I don’t need to go back to Nashville. There’s nothing good waiting for me there. The way I see it, I could live just about anywhere.”
“Oh.” I took his hand and swung it in mine, waving it back and forth between us. “Well, you should live somewhere with a good music scene, right?”
Cass squeezed my hand back. “I told you. I’ll be happy as long as you’re happy.”
I stopped swinging. “I know. But I’m taken care of. I have you, Cass, and I’m going to get paid to write my book, and all because you encouraged me.” I leaned forward and kissed him. “Dr. Freeman said she thought of the connection to her publisher when I turned down the job.”
A goofy smile grew on Cass’s face. “Oh, dope.”
