He didn’t need Declan to change. He just needed him, that was all.

“Earth to Seb,” Alexandria said, waving her hand in the air. “Were you trying to solve equations in your head while I talked again?”

“What? Sorry,” Seb said, fidgeting on the couch.

“I said we can go tour labs while you’re here, if you’d like.”

“Sure, maybe,” he said.

“We’re still recovering from the last week,” Declan added, then pulled Seb closer. “But for what it’s worth, I’m not against living here.”

“Oh yeah?” Alexandria asked. Seb was surprised to hear it, too, after how much Declan had gone on about the criminals in his dad’s office, and the assholes with their private planes, and the buildings that were just too damn tall.

“Why not?” Declan answered. “If this is where the best science junk is, I’m sure I could find plenty of things to entertain myself. And I believe in Seb’s work. Whatever will be best for him, I’m willing to give it a try.”

“Excellent,” Alexandria replied. “If I can get Declan on my side, there’s no way you’ll be able to resist, Seb.”

Seb held Declan’s hand up to his chest. “Have I created a monster by introducing you two?”

Declan pulled Seb’s hand higher, then smacked the back of it with a kiss. “Don’t you worry, babe,” he said. “I won’t let her boss you around too much. But enough small talk.” He turned to Alexandria, then cocked up an eyebrow. “Didn’t you say something about dollar slices of pizza earlier?”
