Instead of letting me go or saying another word, he jerked me closer then wrapped me in a bear hug before stomping down the wooden stairs.

“I said no! Put me down!” I wiggled against his grip, kicking and trying to bang my head against his nose. Unfortunately, I was too far down, and ended up nailing his chin and seeing stars.

My kicks stopped as I blinked them away. By the time I’d regained my wits, Hawk had put me down on a couch.

After standing too fast, I wobbled and he caught me. “I’m fine,” I said, pushing him away.

“You didn’t put up much of a fight,” he said.

“Fuck you.” My manners were gone.

He smirked. “I wanted to show you where I work out,” hesaid, waving behind him. “It’s probably not as nice as your gym, but if you tell me what you want to add, I’ll get it for you.”

It was a man cave, but must have spanned the whole length of the house. An all-in-one-gym sat near one wall, and a few free weights were on a stand next to it. It was carpeted, but it was the kind you’d see in offices or schools.

On the other end, where I was standing, was a couch similar to that upstairs, as well as a recliner. A large television was hung on the wall, and various gaming systems were on a table beneath it. Besides that, it was pretty bare except for a dart board on the wall far from the TV and furniture.

“There’s another gym at the clubhouse, but I’d prefer you didn’t use it.”

Trying to keep my composure, I asked, “Why did you make me come down here?”

He stepped closer, gripping my chin. “Why were you crying this morning?”

Glaring up at him, I said, “I asked first.”

“What did you think I was doing down here this morning?” he asked.

My jaw clenched. Drawing in a deep breath, I considered my wording. “Why would you ask me that?”

“Can a husband not be concerned that his new bride was crying?”

Unmoving, I continued to glare. “You are stalking me.”

He grinned. My God it should be illegal to be that handsome. “I prefer monitoring. And I’m almost certain yourfather did the same.”

My chest rose and fell quickly as my mind raced. What all did he see? What did he know? Why did it matter? “Well, if you invaded my privacy, then you already know. So why are you playing games, Hawk? I don’t wish to be down here.”

He released my chin, but his hand cupped my jaw. He lifted my face as his body pressed me to the wall, so close to the couch I almost tripped. His hand went to the back of my head, threading his fingers in my hair to pad the back of my head just as we met the wall.

“I was working out this morning. Nobody was here but you and me. I’ll show you the video footage. All day, all night.”

His face was so close and his erection was pressed to my stomach.

“That won’t be necessary,” I practically whispered.

His crystal eyes studied my face. “You didn’t fight me.”

“You caught me off guard.”Why did that come out so breathy?

“Someone as skilled as you could have gotten out of my hold. Or maybe broken my arm,” he said, pressing himself closer, his fingers squeezing my hair.

“What is your point?” I was annoyed, hot, and bothered. I couldn’t help but arch my back, my breasts pressing against him.

“I didn’t have another woman here, and I won’t.” He leaned in even closer, his lips so close that my eyes fluttered closed. But he tugged at my hair. “Look at me.”

My eyes popped open. He was so close they couldn’t adjust so I looked from one eye to the other.

“I’m a man of my word. There will be no other women.”
