“We could still burn them,” Sabs suggests. “Or sell them. I heard his show sold out in minutes.”
Did he expect me to be grateful? My sadness turns to fury as I thrust the envelope into Faye’s hands. After one year, that’s all he has to offer? Tickets to his show?
“Sell them or burn them,” I huff. “I don’t care. I don’t want them.”
It’s yet more proof that he’s not the person I thought he was. The sensitive, thoughtful, caring alpha I spent the weekend with never existed.
Faye tucks them into her purse. “I’ll hang onto them for now.”
“Shit, I forgot to ask Margie about murder methods!” Sabs hits her forehead. “We could turn back?”
“He’s not worth it,” I say. “I’d like to have one day not thinking about Jagger Knight or his pack.”
“Consider it done.” Kady bumps shoulders with me. “A Stella day with smut coming up!”
“You know, this will be my first time going to a...” Faye giggles. “Sex shop. I’ve never even had a toy.”
“You don’t need any,” Sabs retorts. “Not when you’re already a pro at juggling four knots.”
I snort. I may not have any alphas, but at least I have these women in my life. If only I could push aside the nagging curiosity about why Jagger would send me these tickets.

“Oh my gosh!” Sabs’s eyes grow into saucers as she waves around a giant, sparkly purple vibrator with a bulbous mass three times the size of my fist at the bottom that’s supposed to emulate a knot. “It pulsates to three different rhythms, and the knot even expands!” As Sabs jabs the button to cycle through some of the settings, it buzzes like crazy. “This guy packs some serious power.”
I read off the package. “It’s called ‘The Dragon.’”
“Where would I keep it?” Sabs ponders. “It’s longer than my forearm, so it wouldn’t fit in my dresser.” Her face is tinged with regret as she puts it down and exhales sadly. “Maybe next time, buddy.”
“They’ve got the new post-sex spray that I told you about!” Kady studies the back of the bottle she’s holding, examining the label. “It has no smell and is supposed to help alleviate any post-heat discomfort.” She grabs five bottles, dropping them into the basket. “It won’t hurt to stock up.”
“What’re you reading?” I peer over a giggling Faye’s shoulder, seeing a Group Kama Sutra book. There’re drawings of five stick people, bent in weird angles. In one, a guy istwisted like a crab while another supports the girl on top, who is mounting him.
“I don’t know if that looks comfortable.” She turns the book, scrutinizing the image from a different angle.
“Look at this!” Sabs strokes an adorable little vibrator shaped like a bunny. “I have to get one now that I’ve given up on finding a heat buddy.”
“Given up?” I ask her.
“I upped my suppressant dosage when I was at home for the holidays. The side-effects aren’t great, and the cramps can be a bitch, but hey, it’s better than getting help from a subpar alpha.” Sabs shrugs. “If I can’t find anyone I want to help me through a heat, then what’s the point in having one?”
Sabs looks into Kady’s basket as she sashays past, ogling at the Shibari-style rope. “Looks like someone is going to have a good time.”
“What happens in my nest is none of your business,” Kady smirks, adding a silky blindfold to her basket too.
“Don’t worry, Del, we don’t need any guys.” Sabs calls over to me from down the aisle. “Not when things like The Dragon exist to keep us company!”
“I’m going to look at the books now.” I set down the remote control vibrator I was examining.
“Me too.” Faye joins me while Sabs and Kady continue to peruse the aisles.
As we near the books, I can hear Sabs oohing and aahing followed by a screech from Kady. From the sound of it, Sabs has somehow managed to get a strap-on tangled up in Kady’s ponytail.
“Probably best we stay out of their way,” Faye giggles, glancing over her shoulder as Kady and Sabs try to free her tresses.
Turning our focus to the books, Faye’s eyes light up as she sees a hot book cover of a curvy blonde wrapped around a minotaur. “Ooh! I haven’t read a monster romance in a while.”
